I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction on a possible fix?

I have a 160 GB PS3 (I guess it's considered the 2nd gen model). Almost every blu-ray disc I play at around the 40-45 minute mark, the video playback tends to freeze/stutter and the video becomes all choppy. At first I thought it was the disc, but eliminated that thinking process when I tested the discs on other blu-ray players. I would shut down the ps3 and let it relax for several hours. I would start playing the film right where I left off, and again after another 30-40 minutes of playback the video tends to freeze/stutter. I also use Vudu to stream movies and I'm able to stream the entire movie without any delays. Is this considered a laser issue? I don't think it's an HDMI cable issue if it's able to stream without any hiccups.

Any suggestions? thanks!

Hi I have a problem and need some help

My Muppets movie (2012) blu ray won't load on my PS3. It gets to the screen that says stay tuned for some movie preview, but then goes black and won't load the menu. The disc works fine on my other Sony blu ray player and PS3 has latest software update (4.81). Other discs load fine. It's my 6 year Olds favorite, so this is very frustrating

Thanks in advance

I got the YLOD on Saturday night on my 60GB "fat" PS3 (manufacturing date of September 2007) and now I have a disc stuck in the unit itself. Performing the trick to eject it isn't working...any ideas how to get it out? I presume I'm going to have to open it up to do so.

I have a question about PS3 lag I'm hoping there's a solution to:

I have a PS3 and PS4, both slim, and hadn't played my PS3 for maybe 6 months or more. Didn't play anything or even turn it on since I was using my PS4.

The last time I did use my PS3 before that dry spell I didn't notice significant lag on any game I played (Tomb Raider, Last of Us, Uncharted, etc.) but a few weeks ago I came back to my PS3 to play the first Assassin's Creed which is lagging A TON. And it isn't just slowing down, I can see the partial frames splitting through the middle of the screen as they try to catch up.

I've also heard the first Assassin's Creed was a tech proof of concept so is this the game asking too much of my PS3 or is my PS3 just getting old (5 years of light use)? Is there anything I can do to reduce this lag? I've kept it vertical so it hasn't collected dust inside and the fan runs like normal.

Well my Metal Gear 80GB PS3 has finally died for good after 11 years of moderate usage. I had the Blu-ray drive replaced in 2013-2014, but I suspect this time the power supply has failed and or something on the board became de-soldered.

My modded PS3 Slim will not accept many Blu-ray discs due to needing online encryption checks.

My 120GB PS3 Slim has been giving me problems for at least 2 months now. Every time I turn it on, it immediately shuts-off and the power light blinks red. It will do this for at least 20 minutes and finally will stay on and I am able to play a game. At first, I thought it was a system update issue, but I do have the latest update. I also thought that it was a hard drive problem, so I deleted a bunch of game installs.

I ended up turning my console on its side/vertical and the problem persists, but only half of the time. I am planning on buying another console, but I prefer the Super Slim models.

I wasn’t aware of this thread.

So I didn’t pick my PS3 controller for 7-8 months, it’s now so dead it won’t even work when connected via usb..

I lost several PS3 controllers and even sold the PS4 shortly after launch because two controllers died right off after not using for only a month or so. If I replace the better, any tricks to stop that happening? Keeping on a charger doesn’t work.

My PS3 is ten years old, and has been my dedicated Blu-ray disc player. Earlier this year it started completely loosing power while booting up, and I would have to unplug/replug it. It would always boot up fine after that, and it only did this once a week or less often.

Yesterday morning it did it three times in a row. The first two times were immediately during the boot up, while the third time was a couple of minutes after being powered on. The third shut off made it boot up with a restore, but it stayed on all day after that.

This morning I have tired five times, all immediate shut offs a few seconds after pressing the power button. I gave up after that. The temperature did drop a bit yesterday morning so it has been colder, I'm not sure if that's related to this issue happening more frequently.

I know nothing lasts forever but maybe there would still be hope of a easy fix?
