Marine Mike-
Thank you for the effort you've contributed to this forum, I used djwhetzel's guide to fix my YLOD 4 times and I fixed my now girlfriend's kid brothers YLOD referencing his guide from memory which made me look like a genius and got me laid. Trouble is that I broke the tiny snap that attaches the blu-ray ribbon to the motherboard. I had some luck on Ebay buying a broken ps3 w/ the same serial number for the new board & planned to attach the old stuff onto the "new" board. There was still a game stuck inside my old blu-ray. I heatgunned the old board, recompounded it, assembled and fired it up. The PS3 turns on, goes to the regular loadup home screen and sits. The blue light stays on but nothing happens. When trying to eject the disk the blue light blinks several times and then nothing happens. Frustrated, I then start looking over your "Your blu-ray disc drive will not eject the disc or will not accept discs" and took apart the blu-ray player to get my disc out. I took off the top of the blu-ray and removed the disc. Now I'm confused what to do. I rebuilt the rest of it and turned it on but the blue light is still on. I can't even try to put a new disc in there as there are two grey "hook" type things blocking when trying to insert a disc. Here's the part where I feel like i'll get yelled at. Since I couldn't get a disc in the right way, I opened it back up and put the disc back in. I reassembled and the same thing is happening- No read & no eject. Help! I'm not sure what to do. |

There is another video thats been mentioned here that actually dissembles the grey arms and puts them back into place 'safetly' while mine is more of a rough manner. |

bad news yo =( last night at approximately 11:50pm while watching Katt Williams "its Pimpin Pimpin" with some friends, my homegirl was readjusting herself on the bed when she knocked the Extension cord out of the wall, which turned off a couple electronics...including my ps3... After reconnecting it elsewhere (because this was the THIRD time it happened) i powered it on.
in the middle of reselecting the comedy show it cut off ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I cannot believe I've been doing this for almost a year now, lol. Well, one thing that I can say is that the list of fixes may not be massive, but at least the number of people helped have been. ![]() |

MMike,
I'm stuck on this one man. I watched your video and the platform is put together correctly. The hooks are still up though. I tried turning all the cogs and the ones that do spin don't do anything and the rest don't move. The tray is up as it would be if there was still a disc in the drive. I'd assume that I'd need to put that back down before I put another disc back in there. Any more suggestions? |

Ok so I took the white cogs off and dropped the tray back down into the drive and the hooks dissapeared.
Now when I try to put a disc in the blue light blinks but the motor doesnt activate to suck them in. Its not the origional blue ray drive that was in the ps3 either. I wonder if that makes a difference? |

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I replaced my lens in my PS3, but now when I put a game in the playstation it makes a loud noise and it doesn't recognize the game and it won't let me eject the game. I opend up the PS3 and got the game out(thank you Marine Mike). But I still don't know what to do with this problem I have. Thank You.

Is there any way I can get the disc back out? I'm all for upgrading to a PS3 Slim, but my DVD copy of Spaceballs was in there!

My best advice to you. When a PS3 first got YLOD, there is a 4 percent chance (My own estimated guess) that it'll turn on again. Keep trying, until it work. If or when it does happen to work, eject the disc out quick. Because that would be your only chance, before it goes dead again.
At least that's how I did it. When it happened to me, my Warhawk was stuck in there, and I had to turn on the system over and over, a good amount of time before it finally decide to get pass the yellow light. Only just in time for me to get my disc out, before it went YLOD again. The second YLOD is for good. Though If you can't get yours to turn on ever again, then I'm sorry. My current 60GB seems like it's about to kick the bucket any minute now too. It's hanging by a thread I feel. Last edited by Blu-Generation; 01-15-2010 at 06:36 AM. |

I keep seeing all the time oh FW X.XX broke my system and it cant read blurays or it freezes up all the time now. Does people say that after every update or what? Also If I updated and it broke my system, What FW is on the ps3 at the store as the default? Wasnt the only problem with 3.00 that it caused the first uncharted to freeze? I just need help because I really want to update to play new games comming out but if updating now truly could cause my system to fail it wouldnt be worth it because my is working good now.
