It made me sad

On the same PS3 yes. I think with most PSN games you can play them as any user. Other PSN users on my system play the PSN games I bought all the time (even free PS+ ones).

But you can't access your PSN account download list and redownload with a different account.

Default Region Free?

I sold my 60G fatty a while back and am now thinking of getting a new slim.
I am wondering if there’s a way to watch Blu Rays from other countries. Is there asetting that can make the PS3 region free? Does it come that way?
Any info is appreciated.

Just turned on the Parental Control for my PS3 and there are 11 Levels of security. How do you know which one locks out rated M games and stuff like that? I know Level 1 locks everything but what about the other levels?

Okay... I've been through the entire menu system on the PS3 and I cannot find a disable option for the 3D feature added on awhile back via firmware.

I have a 3D panel but use a 3D player to run those discs and let the PS3 just do games and BD (2D). I also use a different player to upconvert my regular DVD's... all this is to simply take the load off the PS3 and split the duty up.

Anyway, point is, if I want to run a 3D disc in 2D, which can be done on any regular BD player, the PS3 defaults to 3D and I can only turn it off via the panel's settings but for some reason the PQ is not up to snuff which brings me to my question... does anyone know how to simply disable the 3D feature on the PS3? Yes? No? Where that option is?

Unhappy My PS3 is gone.

I was out of town for the weekend. I shut off the power to the PS3.

Came home last night. Switched on my PS3. Hit the power button and boom, YLOD.

So I'm out of a PS3. Was gonna buy a slim. But the $300+ can go to something important.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Google hairdryer trick YLOD for PS3. Do the trick. If it works back up all your saves to a memory card or external drive. Then if PS3 is still working, go to Gamestop and trade it in. Will take a sting out of the bite of a new system. And if yours has the four usb ports you should get a good trade amount for it. And just so you know. They don't turnaround and sell it to someone else. It goes to their factory re-servicing center in Texas. So it will be good as new for someone someday.

Call Sony. Even if it's out of warranty. They'll probably offer to fix it for $129, or send you a factory refurbished 160GB Slim model for $99. Gamestop will only give you $75 at most. And thats with their $25 bonus offer (not sure if thats still going on). So it could just be $50. And they charge $50 more than Best Buy so you may as well just throw it away.

If you'd rather have a new one, hold off until June. I read a couple weeks ago that there's a price drop coming up. Since they've been selling for $250 essentially at Amazon and Best Buy, the price drop should be down to $200.

Call your nearest Gamestop, especially if you get it working. They will take it on trade-in on a new or used one. You will get more for it working, but they will take it if its not and give you money for it. I got like $125 trade in on a working PS3 60 at Gamestop last year.

I think the plan is to just trade it in. I can't wait till June. I used it for everything. When my band recorded some tracks, it was all on my ps3. My P90x videos were on my ps3. But I did talk to someone at gamestop, who I've known for many years, and he said he can fix it before I trade it in. Then I can swap the saved data to the slim.

I'd rather shell out the cash now. With the Evo3D coming out in the summer, I'm sure my electronics budget is gonna get __________. (insert any word there)

OK new to the PS3 area of this forum so apologies if this would be better asked elsewhere - how long does it take for the PSN.com site to update with trophy information - I have finally got my first Gold trophy but the game I got it on is stuck at 67% rather than the 100% it should be at. PS3 is syncing to 100% with the server and it has picked up a new game that I got my first trophy on so why isnt it picking my completion of this game to 100%

Hey guys I'm new to the PS3 area so LMK if I'm in the wrong section.

I just changed of internet provider last week and was using the address they assign me for a while. Since I knew I was going to switch I created a gmail account and tranfer everything to my new address. (paypal, eBay, forums, etc...)

Everything beside my PSN account!

Now I'm screwed the address I used to log in in my account doesn't exist anymore and I need to be logged in to change my email address.

What can I do to keep my previous account?

I really need help on this one!

Is there any support from sony avalaible for end users like me?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Gui.

You can login with your current account as you normally would (the email address is just the login id...it doesn't have to exist). Then you can change your sign in email address using Account Management.

My previous internet supplier had his own modem and I had a wired routeur to split my connection in 4, everything have been unplugged and a new wireless modem/router from my new supplier have been installed... I tried to access my account using my old address/password many times and it won't work. My PS3 recognize the new internet connection as I'm able to perform online updates, I think this is a lost cause if I can't get in touch with someone from Sony.

It's just a login id, doesn't matter who your internet service provider is/was or even if the email account doesn't exist anymore. You just need your PS3 connected to the internet (or use http://us.playstation.com/ website to sign in instead, except it's down for maintenance now). Unfortunately if you forgot your password it sends it to your email account so if you don't have your email account anymore you can't retrieve your password that way.
You can try calling Sony customer support (check their website for the number) to have your email address changed or your password reset, I'm sure they can help you out.

I just got my 60GB system back from a store in my city which took only 2 days to fix from it's second YLOD. Before this time i'd save my game saves on a USB, but something like Heavy Rain doesn't allow that and LBP2 doesn't have game saves, only game data which isn't copyable. So my question is if i did a system back up, would it also back up the game data and the non-copyable game saves or not (and how long would it take, since it must be ALL data on the PS3)?

My refurbished 40g fatties fan noise is killing me. Should've complained before the 90 days were up but oh well. It kicks into high within minutes of being on no matter what its doing. How plausible is swapping the fan out?

For those who remember it, I sent my lanuch 60Gb to the shop for its first YLOD; and it worked fine since January, except for the annoying fan noise. The fan seemed to run almost at all time, despite the room being cold and all...

...fast forward to 2 nights ago, suddenly there was this "over heating" warning appeared on the tv screen, and it shut itself down within 3 minutes afterward. All the while, except for the air flowing out of the vent, I couldn't "feel" any heat coming out of the console. So I guess the thing just "thinks" it is over heating?!

Questions are, shall I:

A) send it back to the shop for a second repair? OR

B) give up and buy a new one?

Azyiu, I've only gotten that warning once on my PS3, and that was when I forgot to plug the fan into the motherboard when putting everything back together. If you feel air blowing, the fan is probably plugged in, but something's not working right.

I'd buy a new one personally. My feeling is that paying to repair the 60GB models is taking a chance, they do break down eventually. The slim has so far proven to be very reliable.

Of course if you are interested in keeping PS2 BC, then I guess you will want to repair it.
