I tried rebuild database too. I spent over a hour a few nights ago doing all the things. When the system did this sort of thing back in summer 09, i had to send it in. So i'm pretty sure this is same thing. Thanks though for input.

I know! I been playing with Android too much lol but ya I did everything. Full reformat, OS rebuilld, the works. The OS Rebuild actually got the beeps to stop for a while but then started back up. I tried calling sony but they dont care im 10 days out of a warranty. They even hung up on me! I think they closed down while I was on the phone with them since it was late night.

I have had my PS3 for 3 years. A year and a month after I got it (read: out of warranty), I got the RSOD. If has been working well since then...until now.

I put in a brand new DVD and there was no vocal audio track. It was odd, you could hear the bouncing of basketballs and see lips moving, just not hear any words. I initially thought it might be the DVD but I put it in my laptop and it played fine.

Today, I put in Red Dead Redemption and all of a sudden, on cutaway scenes, I got almost no audio. If I cranked the sound WAY up, I could barely hear the words.

What is going on? Is my PS3 dying?

Due to problems with my receiver, my PS3 is connected via HDMI straight to my TV.

I have encountered this several times one being with Armageddon on Blu Ray.......not sure if you have it hooked up to a receiver or just the telly. I powered off my receiver and powered it back on and all the audio was there...

Try manually unchecking every audio option save the two you can't? Dialogue is often relegated to the center channel in surround sound. So if you can still hear everything save the dialogue, could be a surround sound issue.

It's not that the audio isn't supported, but that it isn't being mixed properly over HDMI. The game doesn't recognize you only have two speakers and is attempting to output in surround. Because there isn't a receiver in between the PS3 and tv to override this, you're losing channels rather than having no audio at all.

Let the PS3 auto-configure the audio for your T.V. See if that helps. This usually happens when going from one audio/video device to another.

I just changed out my laser because I was having outtages while playing games and watching movies, and now games work perfectly. It sometimes takes a long time for the game to load, but once its up, its up for good. But now my ps3 doesnt even recognize blu ray movies. wtf? lol.

I posted this in the other thread about laser repair, but this one seems to be more active. I read that someone with a similar problem had a database corruption issue,... will the rebuild in the safe mode fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. its so frustrating,...

I'm guessing it was mine you read. It didn't work for me but it wouldn't hurt to try. Also if you do the safe mode thing don't even enter a profile. Just do it while it's on the user list screen. I don't know if that will help but some vid i saw online the person did it that way. I've not attempted it yet. I don't know what difference that would make really. Good luck to you.

So how's your repaired PS3?

As for mine, it's been exactly a month since I got it back. So far so good and everything seems to be back to normal... Perhaps the shop did something special to the cooling fan? I noticed the cooling fan is now on almost the entire time. It usually go from slow to medium speed than high speed, and then returns to medium or slow speed in that cycle.

It is slightly annoying but I also noticed my 60Gb fatty is generating alot LESS heat as a result!

today my ps3 has died : got the yellow light now i cant wait any blu rays nor play dead space 2 or when kill zone 3 comes out im angry i was playing the new fight night demo (wat ever its called) and it just shut off and wont turn back on.now im gonna have to buy a new one but dont have the money!!!!!

Yeah I hope this doesn't happen to me any time soon because I simply don't have the money either, should probably put money aside for a stand-alone player for when my finally breaks.

That's why I'm glad I at least have a LOT of TV seasons on DVD, not to mention all the DVDs I have in combo packs(47 I think) so at least I wouldn't be completely out of luck once my PS3 YLODs.

You should check out the first page of this thread. There are ways to recover your PS3 from the YLOD.

I see... while I have no idea how long this fix will last, my advice is you definitely transfer all your PS3 saves to an external drive or USB flash drive or something, and then consider doing one of the followings:

1) send it to a shop for repair (reflow or reball)
2) start saving up for a new one
