Uhh, why do i still see it with my new slim?

It must be apart of the game. No way i got so unlucky to get a bad slim.

HDMI cable maby? Don't think so though as red dead is the only game with this problem.

Don't have a camera, sorry. They're just tiny red and blue dots all over the wall. The wall flickers red and blue also. When i pan the camera up and down you can see these dots. Almost as if the dots are already everywhere but you only catch it on a solid object.

Get this-

I wanted to see if it was my cable so i brought it, along with game, to a family members PS3 slim in the house and i saw no such dots on any wall. I might have saw a hint of it but the fact that i was trying hard to see it says alot. No flickering color either.

It's weird cause i don't see these dots in every location in the game. Only in certain parts. So maby the fact that i started new on the other PS3 it didn't show up. Don't know. Im confused.

Im gonna do some more test then probably get an exchange at bestbuy tomorrow. But what are chances i got a bad GPU from a brand new PS3 thats showing the exact same problem as my 60gb PS3? It just doesn't make sense. It has to be something else.

that doesnt sound like a bad gpu, stuff turning black, or things that propel endlessly into the environment are a bad gpu.

saw changing of colors and geometry issues, changing colors and items turning black are signs of bad gpu's. could be corrupted data on your HDD since it does do an install.

Eh. Still see the dots.

At the menue it did say "something was wrong with your data. Re installing"

But i guess its suppose to say that since i deleted it.

Im doing one more test. Im gonna bring the other slim that doesn't have this problem to my setup and see what happens.

Sounds like what my 60g was doing in summer 09. Chris's weapon on his back would make this bad line that stretched out on the screen...then eventually i couldn't read discs at all. Sent it to Sony. That sucks your having issues with the slim.

You know, saprano, I had a similar issue with Borderlands. At a certain point in the game, the sky would start turning into different colors. It could be mixes of green, pink, red, blue, etc. On top of that, certain textures would turn into specs of color. I figured it was just the game because it would only happen at a certain point and I could always go back to that point to repeat the issue. It made it very hard to concentrate and navigate throughout the section.

It boggles my mind that i would get a new system with the same problem with the same one game. Like really.

I think its definitely the GPU.

This one house showed the dot and changing colors REAL BAD on my 60gb phat is now showing on the slim. When i first tested it on the slim it wasn't there. It looks so damn bad.

Just my luck huh? I go out to buy a new PS3 because my old one is about to probably YLOD, and i end up with another broken PS3. I have no words.

Anyway, i got the killzone 3 bundle on saturday so tomorrow im going to exchange it at bestbuy.

Cali, how do exchanges work? They shouldn't be any problems right? It seems they don't have any more KZ3 bundles but they should still give me a new PS3 right?

Ok now this is weird. I tried some more test and now for some reason the problem shows up on the other slim. I copied my save to other system so i don't know if its a bad save? The thing is though i started a new game and i still saw it.

Im think maby its the actual game? But i haven't heard anyone else have this problem.

I truly doubt the 3 PS3's in my house (my slim, phat, and brothers PS3) have bad GPU's.

Can someone play red dead redemption and see if they see these red and blue dots and changing colors? Thanks.

Im still going to change my PS3 at bestbuy just in case. Have to wait till they get more KZ3 bundles in though.

You didn't. It's not a problem with the particular PS3s you bought. Have you tried the game with your PS3s on a different TV with a different HDMI cable?

I already tried the AV cable and still saw them. I'll try it again one more time on another TV. But i remember still seeing the problem.

Well today i got a new slim and the problem is still there. So i think i can definitely rule out its a GPU problem. Unless im the most unluckiest man in the world and happen to run into 4 broken PS3's. It has to be the game? Its ONLY game where im seeing this.

I forgot to mention that the red and blue dots don't look like something thats from the GPU. It looks like its from the game if that makes any sense. If it was a GPU problem would it be all over the screen at all times? Why is it specifically on walls only? At night in red dead, the stars has a mixture of the red/blue color dots also.

I don't know what else to do.

Just had an issue in Killzone 3 where the textures extended across the entire map, so I couldn't see anything till going through them. Pulled the PS3 out a little further, to cool it down, and it stopped. I don't need another PS3 going out for the same thing.

I suspect it's an actual issue with the game. Try borrowing or buying another copy of the game to see if it is an issue with the actual game. If you buy a pre-owned copy at GS, they will give you 7 days to test the game and return it for a refund. If it doesn't duplicate the problem with the new disc, return the splotchy disc instead.

Exclamation Instant YLOD even after reflowing twice! (60gb)

I reflowed a 60gb console but when I turned it on it went straight into a yellow light, instantly!
I tried swapping the PSU with another 60gb PSU lying around, didn't work. I even unplugged the Bluray drive, still no difference.

So I did the whole reflow again, but still, instant yellow light!

If the reflow wasn't good enough, it would die slowly (within 5 mins), but this is instant, and twice. I've fixed a lot of YLOD consoles but I've never seen this. It's not the PSU or BR drive and I've double checked all the cables are in properly both times. So WHAT is the problem?

How long are you using the heat gun for and on what temperature? I've been repairing mine for the past year and the fix usually lasts about a month or so.
