Yep, it's a piercing high pitch whine, there's no way you could miss it, no one else here seems to suffer it though so once PSN is sorted I'll contact Sony about a replacement.

Hey guys, I need some suggestions or help. My 160 gb ps3 is hooked up to my sony lcd and its been fine until yesterday. I turn my tv and ps3 on and go to hdmi 4 (its highlighted on the tv) but it says no signal and i cant see my ps3 screen. I tried moving the hdmi to other ports and still says no signal. I just got the cables the came with the ps3(component) and hooked it up and still no signal. Has anyone heard of this problem? I doubt its the tv being that I cant see all inputs being faulty. and even though my cable and blu ray player are plugged in through receiver they all work. Any help or suggestions? Thanks.

I actually tried that and no luck. It did work with the component cable but not with the HDMI. And i can't play games without HDMI. I tried a couple different HDMI cables while moving them to different inputs but still no luck. Could it be the TV or the PS3? This is my second TV, first one broke, so I'll be pissed if it's the TV.

Also I would have never thought of it but after a google search turned out my TV had a firmware update. At the time I was getting terrible screen tearing and red blocks/pixels no matter the source. Got the firmware for the TV, It's a simple USB drive and it's been good ever since, except the fact it's 32 inch and 1080i lol but that is another matter. It would happen to me every few months or so. If you have Bravia sync you will get a warning when the PlayStation option is not showing in the input menu.

Ok, so I sent my 60Gb fatty back to the shop one more time on Saturday, and most likely for the final time. I know it won't last forever, but I will keep using it as long as it lasts. After all, having the PS2 B/C is just too nice to give up easily...

I had a 60g and after 3 years it yellow lighted on me and I did the thermal compound fix too. It and it lasted 3 months then it did the same thing again and this time I just deleted my account and transferred to a new PS3. Not all YLOD are caused by the heat sync I know a few people that it was their power supplies that caused the YLOD.

If you're getting YLoD because of overheating(CPU and/or GPU seperating), repairing will only last about 1-3 months. i fixed mine as well as friends PS3s over a dozen times. each time it only lasted about that long. the longest i ever got mine to last was 4 1/2 months, that was with a self-powered intercooler i bought. helped with the heat but still crapped out. the old 60Gbs are nothing less than space heaters

My 80 gig shut down this weekend when watching Tron (Netflix disc). I try to restart and it blinks yellow once then just flashes red.
I need the disc and would like to back up the hard drive if possible. It is sounding like the hair dryer trick may work for this. I can hopefully do the transfer via an ethernet cable. Will this be an issue if I send it in? I will most likely be getting a new slim but would like to get the refurb for $100 if I can as the 80 is currently a paper weight. Any good bundles coming out? I am waiting until E3 in case there is a price drop. Last edited by Chocolatejas; 05-16-2011 at 06:48 PM. |

Check out the video at http://www.sudburymods.com . They do repairs as well as sell the fan mod separately, which you can see in the video. |
