So I took my PS3 apart a few weeks ago to clean the heatsync. Long story short I ****ed something else up, and it would no longer power on.
![]() Is there a way I can use my hard drive in his PS3 to play my downloaded games, or to upload all of my saves, so I can download them later on? |

No. The only way to get the saves is
1. If they're uploaded to the cloud with PS Plus 2. Maybe use a 3rd party tool to extract the saves from the drive while it's plugged into a PC 3. Maybe set it up as an external drive for the PS3, login with your PSN ID and retrieve them that way Either way the saves will only work while logged in with your PSN ID and might not even work because they may have an ID tag on them that's system specific. For the games you cannot use your downloaded games on that drive with somebody else's system. You would have to create a 2nd account on his system with your PSN ID and redownload them. |

My original fat 60GB bit the dust again. This is the 2nd time. It had the YLOD awhile back. I had it fixed. Now it seems that it overheated and is DOA. It will turn on but has no audio nor video. If I get a new PS3 is there any way to transfer all the saved game data from the dead fat PS3 to the new one?

Maybe you can plug the SATA drive in to a USB dock and read it from a PC? Never tried it though. |

Is my PS3 dying? Or specifically is the hard drive dying?
Over the past month or so, the system randomly would turn itself OFF (beep once) right after I pressed the PS button to start it. Sometimes it works fine for 2-3 days in a row, and all of a sudden on the 4th time or so the above would return. A friend of mine suggested I go deactivate my system, and then restore the system. Should I do it? Or what are the risks? If I am not wrong, all game data (including games I purchased from the PSN) would be deleted? |

I have been struggling for months with a weird Netflix glitch:
During playback, the yellow light would suddenly go fll on (instead of blinking), and the video playback would stop for 3-5 seconds while the audio would go on. I tried a lot of things, looked online and many times tricks were to uninstall and re-install Netflix, among other things. Even more weird, the problem was strictly Netflix, Amazon Prime working like a charm. Eventually, I used a combo of words that clicked on Google and brought me this: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/9903 Quote:
Weird that the "failing hard drive" was only hindering Netflix though. Me thinks it was probably more a fragmentation problem and that Netflix makes a heavy usage of virtual memory on disk (buffering), but anyways, it's solved. |

I have a top loading PS3 I have been watching the Soprano's and I have been changing the disks out really fast. The disks are still going at quite a high RPM before I use the slider button, then they come to a full stop. My first question is can I damage the disks by having them come to such a quick stop? Also is there a command I can give the PS3 to get the disk to slow down first, by pressing the triangle button or something?

My PS3 is just a little over a year old and it only recently stopped loading certain blu-rays. PS3 games are loading okay. But the strangest thing is that all my Olive Films blu-rays will play perfectly and any BD-25 disc. So it seams to have something to do with the disc sizes. Any ideas? I have the super slim, btw.

It's probably the lens, I cleaned it once and it worked for a few months than I changed it there's a lot of cheap ones on eBay, I bought the lens with the tray, it's much easier than just changing the lens.

I was afraid it was the lens. But I figured if it was the lens that it would do it to every BD. But thanks for the feedback, I will check into getting a lens with a tray when I can. I've already tried turning off the internet connection and I've deleted every BD data that was in the BD data utility, I've even did the database rebuild and rebooted the system many times and none of that worked. It's strange that it suddenly started doing this and it's been playing BDs fine since I got it. But it started having freezing problems on Rio, every single disc I got exchanged that was brand new, even though everything else was still playing just fine, so I finally realized that it must not have been the disc.
![]() UPDATE: It seems the problem has been fixed. I did a reboot two to three times in a row, and I cleaned the lens, now everything seems to be playing perfectly. I'm not sure which one did the trick, but all is good now. I suppose it was the lens being dirty. I used a special cloth used for touchscreens and such and wiped it really good, so that's probably what did it. However, Rio was still having freezing and skip issues, so I refused to allow a Internet connection with the BD and now it doesn't seem to be skipping or freezing at all. Thanks.
