Hey, i have a data stick and when i plug it into the ps3 it doesn't come up with any of the songs that are on it - just says "there are no files". I want to listen to my music but the tracks just don't appear when i connect it to the ps3. Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Hi Marine Mike and everyone else. So I made the bad move of taking out a disk while working on the ps3 drive. As soon as I took out the disk all the gears started moving and I thought "oh no!!". Naturally now the driver thinks there's a disk inside when there isn't. Now I have no idea how to move the gears back into place to trick the driver into thinking there isn't a disk inside. I've checked all the topics here and it's a problem that has happened and can be fixed, I just have no knowledge of all the little gears.
Here's a picture if anyone would kindly explain in detail what to do as I don't know any of the part names. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/9752/cimg0238oby.jpg Also, I got a replacement lens from Ebay from a guy with 2500 feedback at 100%. After replacing the lens I tested to see if the light comes on without the magnet on top (I know it's supposed to hurt my eyes D ![]() Thanks a bunch! |

Ok. So I've had the YLOD 2x recently. The first time it would cut off, yellow, then blinking red. Try to turn it on but immediately yellow, then blinking red again. I reflowed the mobo and it magically came back on. Perfect for 1 week. Then yellow light, blinking red light again. This time I could wait a while, turn it back on and play for awhile. Inevitably it turns back off. Anyway, I noticed something with the volume this time after the second reflow. I was playing MLB 08 online and during a game it would make a weird thu thunk sound and the volume would cut out and then be normal. It did this for several minutes. thu thunk, volume drop, fine... thu thunk... etc. I had the PS3 hooked into my dinosaur of a receiver thru optical output. I checked the back of the PS3 and the air blowing out the back was quite hot and the optical cable was hot as well. I unplugged the cable and run the sound thru my tv (momentarily) Even tho my surround recvr is bad, its better than tv speakers.. lol The thu thunk stopped. Its been normal for a cpl days now.
My question is, do you think the optical cable went bad? And do you think it would cause some issues and make the PS3 overheat? Im going to run a digital coax cable from the tv to the surround since the PS3 is HDMI to the tv anyway and see if theres any change. Sorry about the babbling, just had a minute to write and I'd like some input... Thanks in advance. |

OK so my PS3 gave me the "green light, then three fast beeps, then flashing red light"...of death. I took my PS3 apart to check for any heat damage and found none. I removed the thermal paste and put in some new thermal paste, cleaned out all the dust (not much), and put it back together. No difference. My brother-in-law thinks that something in the heat sync or cooling system was tripped and now no matter what I do the PS3 thinks it has a problem even though it may not (but who really knows, besides those that hand out $150+tax credit card charges).
Is there possibly a piece of the guts of the PS3 that I can swap out to make the PS3 think it can work again. Reading over this I think I sound like a putz, but the question stands. ![]() Last edited by chnandler_bong; 05-14-2009 at 04:21 PM. |

If so, maybe try the reflowing procedure, I think there's a link to a Youtube video on the OP. |

This is the place to ask this kind of question.
My PS3 game remote won't seem to sync with the system. If I plug it into the usb it picks it up and it's operational. If I unplug it the lights begin flashing on the remote and it's lost. The controller is fully charged and i've tried shutting the system down for several minutes and powering it back up. I've had it connected with the usb turned on the system, removed the usb connection and lost the controller sync to the system. I have a second controller that's having no problems linking up. This happened right after the update to the ps3 this week which made me think all I had to do was resync it, but that doesn't seem to be the case. What do you think is the controller dead? |

![]() First, Thank You for the help. I called 2 gamestop stores and they both told me the remote was probably broken, as did Best Buy. I was preparing to go and buy another remote today but happily now I can spend it on BD's this week. Thank you again, this is definately the place to come to if you want the best advice. ![]() |

I had a slight partition in the lower section of the TV screen that came up during cut scenes in games .It worried me a lot before realizing that the reason for that was enabling subtitles.

Well I decided to give the 60gb one last try. I ordered a laser that is for sure the brown neck Japan laser and not the white Chinese high fail one. I know for sure 2 of my failed lasers had the white neck, aka Chinese. I'll give the Japan one a go and hope for the best.

The warranty is good for two years, right? If so, then, Im a'ight. If not, I'm probably going to open it up myself....sounds like a new laser is needed. |

The Sony manufacturer's warranty is 1 year. However, if you bought it somewhere else that has an extended warranty, you'd be covered.
