Yeah, likely you need to open up the system. That's the only way you'll be able to remove the discs. Read that thread and it will tell you what you need.

Good luck my once two year old danced on my PS2 i had for years *broken now*.

I use to use it as an exrtra dvd player, gotta love em but kid's do the darness things.

Most extended service agreements start after the manufacturer's warranties end. If this is the case for you 2-year service agreement, you are still covered until Jan. 1, 2010.

Although I notice you have an unprotected VHS deck on the right there...

When I was like 3 I tried to feed a PB&J sandwhich to a tape deck. The VHS has the same risk. =P

Well have a friend who helped me get to the disc drive, by following that lame guy in the video and well, there was 4 discs, drive was broke from the 2 yr old trying to get all 4 discs in. Went to Wal-Mart and got the $299 80GB with Quantum or Solace and Mlb 09 after we tore everything apart did I realize it would still be covered by the original 2 yr service agreement.

Its a 1 year service agreement unless you paid extra to a retailer.

3rd PS3 sent from sony is, again, overheating, but ONLY when i play a disc based game. Anything else, fan never comes on. Called sony, they had me talk to a tier 3 tech, and after him trying to convince me it is normal, i eventually got him to admit its not normal at all and they're doing another swap. 4th time. Ridiculous. Im going to take a pic of all my PS3 coffins stacked ontop of each other once im finished with this ordeal.

ok my 60gb got the YLOD

i read that it cost $150 to send it to sony to get it fixed/or get a refurbished 1, my question is wat r the chances that the refurbished one goes bad

So I was playing Batman Arkham Asylum like an hour ago, then the game froze..so I'm like screw it, I turn the system off.
10 min ago, I felt like playing again...and my ps3 wont read any games or movies.Ugh this really pissed me off. How long would it take for them to fix it. I need the same exact Ps3 because of the 320 hdd that i installed a couple of months ago.

hmmm.. That is not good. I believe since you changed the HDD, you can not send it in to get it fixed. From my understanding that makes the warranty void.

You have two options:

1)Pray

2) Buy a Slim

I had a great experience with Sony when they fixed mine. The process took about 2 weeks. My warranty had expired so I took advantage of the extended warranty my credit card offered.
