I just took apart and cleaned the lens of my launch 60G for the fifth time since having it done professionally. As frustrating as it is when this happens I am still amazed this machine continues on like new(after cleaning).

Coming up on three years with this tank and I may very well get four years and beyond...

Weird! I only kept getting $102 lol. Never got anything else. It depends on what you have to trade in I guess.

Other than the huge attitude it was informative. haha

60GB model gives you $120 store credit.

You must include:

Power Cord
Video Cables
Controller
USB Charging cable
So they'll take it even if it's been opened and reflowed? If so, sounds like a better deal. I don't know Best Buy will take a once YLOD console though. What are you going to do?

Well JD Electronics put a sticker over the hex screw saying "do not remove or warranty is void" and it looks quite professional. After my latest "amateur" reflow I THINK my buddy put it back on. I'll just play dumb and say that's how it was. Most people are too afraid of those stickers to touch them, so they should buy it.

just use a heat gun, or hair dryer to get that glue sticky, and then hold it down.. looks like new..

Same price for a 20gb? What if I put a 120gb hard drive in there for you?

Having great frustration with my PS3 as of late. Back in July my video and audio would drop out only when playing Prototype. I would loos both A/V for about 10 seconds. I didn't think anything of it because it only happened with that game.

Recently I have had the same happen for Zombie Apocalypse, Uncharted 2 and has recently started with RB2. It drops every 30 seconds so the games are unplayable. The thing is I can play W@W multiplayer with out any issues at all. It has not done it for COD at all. When I quit ZA or UC2 and got to the XMB the picture and audio come back without any issues. I have only had one issue with a blu ray dropping out since July. DVDs play without any issue.

I dust once a week and blow it out with a spray can. Any thoughts?

Hey guys I have a question for everyone that has done reflow. What did you guys have under the motherboard while using the heatgun? What type of surface and did it cause any damage to the surface?

Thinking it is either my HDMI cord or my receiver input. Hooked it up directly to my TV without any issues at all.

When did you buy the system?

You have a 1 year warranty that comes with the system. Also, if the warranty is expired then it costs 150 dollars to have it fixed through sony.

There is this tricks and fixes thread.

in the link provided there are steps if you choose to decide to fix the PS3 yourself.

Yea all games worked without issues. So it is either the HDMI cable or receiver input as the DVR works fine with the receiver.

Default Saved 200 bucks by fixing ps3 myself

Just thought this was cool. My ps3 got the Yellow light of death last week. It was a 60 gig backwards compatible system that I had for only 2 years. Anyways there was no way I could afford to send it in and get fixed since I'm in Canada the price is 199 from sony plus shipping and taxes. Now I am not a handy guy at all and have never done anything like this before but I decided what the hell. So I took the whole thing completely apart and fixed it with the help of a youtube video. Put it back together and it frickin works now. Such a good felling. I'm guessing it will go again at some point but at least now I know I can open it back up again if I have to. So if anyone doesn't think they can do it, i say go for it what do you have to lose. Also if you have never seen what the inside of a ps3 looks like I recommend hitting up you tube because it's pretty wild in there. Thanks
