Doesn't read or recognize discs? I'd call back Sony and tell them the issue and make sure you have the most up to date firmware.

Default PS3 eject woes

Hi guys,

My PS3 has decided that when ejecting discs it will either load it back in automatically, it will come half way out, or it will go spit, clunk, whirrrrrrrrr, tinkety, battety doo dar and load the disc again.

Sometimes it comes out first time but not often.

I have 60GB launch machine. The machine works perfectly besides this one little problem. Its out of warranty. I took the warranty sticker off to see inside but didn't realize its got security screws on it. I'm wondering if the problem is an easy fix. Sounds like the holder is out of alignment but I can't get in to see whats happening. I doubt I can fix it on the outside right?

You probably have dirt clogging up some of the gears. Same thing happened to me after we had some builders in and the whole house was dusty as hell. Got it cleaned out and now works like new.

Default Blinking Red Light. . . am I doomed!

I was in a Warhawk Clan Battle the other night, and my PS3 froze 3 different times, shut down and had a blinking red light.

I restarted it, played some more etc. and after the 3 times it hasn't happened for a couple of days - then tonight, while listening to music - it shut off and gave me the evil red blink again.

Am I doomed? Is my PS3 on the verge of collapse?

I googled the blinking red light, but I wasn't sure what to believe.

Have any of you had this issue? What happened in the end - did it die, or were you able to fix it via any of the recommended fixes on the web.

Thanks for any replies.

If you all suddenly don't see me online on your friends list. . . you know what happened. . .

As long as it it not a blinking yellow you should be fine, or so they say. however, it is obvious that something is wrong with your PS3.

Hey, my 40 gig PS3 has swine flu (ylod). Has anyone here tried the re-flow youtube fix on the first page of this thread? I was quoted $170 to fix it. At that price I might try it myself & buy a new ps3 slim if I screw it up.

Id try giving it a good vacuuming and possibly moving it somewhere it can breathe better. If that doesnt work I'd try going back to the factory installed hard drive. But Id say its almost definately overheating.

Mine did the exact same thing about 2 months ago. I'm not so sure its due to overheating, because I had mine very well ventilated. I just chalked it up to it dying and sent it in for repair. They sent me back a very good condition 60GB model. Hate to say it, but it sounds like its on its way out.

Is it a launch system?

1. Back up all game saves and other data NOW!
2. Vacuum the vents and move to a more open area
3. Prepare yourself for the most traumatising thing to happen to man: Your PS3 dying.

Take out any discs.

Don't put any discs in there.

Then back up game saves and other data you want to keep,... remove home movies from hard drive, You are supposed to de-activate you master account but I never got the chance to do that.

This happened to my Launch day 60 GB a few weeks ago. I was confused because my light was never yellow. It was just blinking red. RLOD perhaps?

I was able to restart mine 3 times I think before it just did the blinking thing right from the start. I was very glad to not have a disc stuck in there when It really died.

I had extended warranty so I sent it to Tennessee then they sent it back and they setup the $150 exchange with Sony (they paid it) so Sony sent me a box.

It's supposed to be on it's way to Texas now, I hope I have it back by Friday which would end up being 3 weeks of hell. It really sux to try to live without a PS3.
