So I still have a question:

So I got my slim, but I still haven't copied the save game data from my old 60GB.. I'm gonna do that tonight but I have a question: I have completed Modern Warfare 2 on my new slim, but I also have some save data on my old PS3 for that game.. The same goes for Fifa.. What happens when I try to copy those data to my new PS3? Will they be corrupted? Will the old Modern Warfare take over my completed data on my new? Or will nothing happen? What should I do?

Also - will it only copy saved data, or also games downloaded from PSN?

I ask that because someone on gaf has a theory that japan made PS3's last longer than the ones made in china.

Default 2tvs, 2 ps3s, 1 router

hey everyone, i didn't want to start a new thread for this topic, since it may be considered a 'tip' or a 'trick':

My friends are I are getting together this weekend for some gaming. Our plan is to setup two tv's, each with its own ps3. The plan is to connect both ps3's to a router so that we can play against each other online. will this work? will we run into any bandwith issues (we have cable modem service)? any tips or suggestions?

thanks

Shouldn't be a problem at all unless you try and sign in with the same PSN ID. Whats your internet speed?

not sure, since it's not my house. probably just the standard time warner cable internet plan.

and, yes, we'll have 2 separate psn id's.

Well my ps3 is officially dead. I tried to cpr it one more time, but i decided to kill it. i was able to recover mw2 from it tho. i was trying to fix it by myself but failed i messed it up, so angry and frustated i broke it apart. It really hurts to see my ps3 broken apart. Will not buy a slim for quite a while.

I sent my 60gb to Sony a couple weeks ago and got a 60 back that was so shiny it looked brand new. You should get the same model type back you send in.

You smashed your PS3? you know you definitely can't send it in to sony now right?

EDIT- 2.8 years you had it. is it made in china or japan?

I got mine september 2007. looks like i have about 1 year left.

Well, we'll test your theory. My PS3 60 was stolen and I found one on Craigslist from an older man who had it never opened in his closet. I just unwrapped it.

If we send it in, Sony should at least copy our data over. I bought a Drake's rather than go through with fixing my launch 60GB and don't want to lose all my saved games, mostly.

The music and what not I don't necessarily need that bad since I have that data in other places. It's been sitting in the coffin for a few months. If a DIY can let me get a good backup off of it, I'll call it a day and send it in for a pro fix/replacement by Sony. The money doesn't concern me so much as the inconvenience of losing all those saved games (I'll go insane if I have to do Three Leaf Clover in GTAIV again!).

Let me know if you get an answer on that or figure it out. I want to fix my YLOD 60GB (with a 320GB in it) and pull the data off to either my Drake's Fortune or a new Slim (I want to use either my Drake's or OG 60GB as a linux box if I get a new one - otherwise, one PS3 to bedroom and the other in the living room/home theater setup). I've been playing the Drake's bundle since getting it after my OG went YLOD and want to pull off all my saved games but don't want to lose the progress I got on the Drake's bundle, if that makes sense.

I imagine you'll have to redownload any games from PSN, as well as Rock Band tracks, etc.

Default It's ALIVE!!!

Followed the youtube vids and did the reflow on my launch 60 (with 320GB installed). Fired up! Crossing my fingers that the backup I started can finish. Wiped out most of the demos and all the music but still going to take 3 hours. Ugh. Wish the Backup Utility would ask what I wanted... I would just select User Data and Game Data and call it a day.

As it is, if it finishes this, I'll update the firmware (currently on 2.76 lol) and then see if I can cross transfer my data to the Drake's bundle I got to replace this one. :::fingers crossed::::

Does anyone know how I can get my Killzone save data?

How about a backup? I know nothing about this so please help if you can!
What about the data on my slim if I do a backup from my old PS3? Will I lose my Modern Warfare 2 data on my slim?

So you're transferring data from one PS3 to another? Use the transfer utility that came with the latest update? and yes a back up will copy the KZ save.
