The most self-serving post I have been PM’ed all week, namely "Complaints from this forum (AVS) has been heard and noted"
![]() http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1135505 This dude - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ed#post1736839 just can not post anything productive on the internet without some sort of inaccurate editorializing about a studio or its employees. The above linked post reminds me of Al Gore reputedly taking credit for helping to invent the internet, or having invented the internet. For the record, Schawn Belston (the person behind the restoration and HD transfer of South Pacific) nor, for that matter, George Feltenstein of Warner Bros., who arguably have been accused of applying more digital grain reduction on more Blu-ray transfers than any another other major studio out there…………. Both guys, neither read AVS nor have even heard of “xylon”. I, on the other hand, have the displeasure of occasionally being forwarded his idiotic speculations. ![]() |

That was a bit of an ironic read, Penton, as, to my understanding, the popular tidbit about Al Gore's alleged "claims" is just as unfounded as Xylon's baseless and myopic speculation (and perhaps as politically motivated, as well).
That said, I'm by no means calling myself an expert on the subject. |

![]() Given that, tell me which state lies to the left of you (when viewing a map) and what classic Blu-ray filmed in B&W (by my all-time favorite cinematographer) that I’m thinking of, and I’ll send you a once viewed copy of said ‘cold’ Blu-ray title. ![]() If Dan can’t figure it out in 24hr., please somebody else provide him with a hint/help. ![]() Let me know when there is a minimum of 10 folks interested and I'll consider it a worthy starting field for a horse race. The reason I say that (i.e. "race") is because I'll make the question purposely rather easy so that the first person that can type fast enough and possibly google some quotation directory (like imdb) on the internet will win the prize. If there is a large enough starting field, how does it sound if I post the query at ABOUT 10:00 A.M P.S.T. next Tues.? Does that meet with the needs of most everyone here who has already shown interest? Last edited by Penton-Man; 04-05-2009 at 11:18 PM. Reason: added P.S.T. |

Well, it's the first thing that came to my mind, in addition, go back and carefully read my post again and concentrate on the word "reputedly".
Believe me, if I desired, to show how little thought of and little respected this individual is (I'm not referring to Gore but rather the *screenshot scientist*), with one phone call in a matter of five minutes or less, I could get his e-mail address.........or at least one of them, as he probably has a library of e-mail addys he uses. And I'm not talking about an e-mail address that he used to sign up for membership here back in the day. I'm talking about a current e-mail address. You doubt me? Challenge me. The clock is ticking. P.S. This is what happens when one is waiting at home for a plumber who was supposed to have arrived sometime between 10:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. my time, to fix a toilet. Husbandary duties are worse than work. Last edited by Penton-Man; 04-03-2009 at 09:31 PM. Reason: left out the word "have" and added an underline |
