And to think, I posted photographic evidence of Wal-Mart phasing out the A-3 a couple weeks ago, and there were people who didn't believe me.

I was expecting it to be either WalMart or Circuit City. Glad to see it's Wally World. That's a damn big nail.

1. Wal-mart makes decisions for Wal-mart, very seldom do they let others influence a deal on what they sell in their stores, other than brokering a cheaper price deal. This decision was most likely made internally with nobody outside the company having knowledge of it.

2. Penton said the logistics wern't in place, he said it wasn't happening today, i believe whatever it was wasn't happening today, so WM couldn't be what he was talking about.

3. Wal-mart seems to be based off BBY and NFLX making this a quick decision, not something that many would know about.

I'm with you. I am still thinking that he was referring the the Toshiba deal that might be going down soon heheh. "Business Decision" is the keyword.

Pretty sure Wal-Mart is the nail he was speaking of.

These are all business decisions. I can't see how this is what Penton-Man was talking about, since he referred to how they were hoping to have this done by Valentine's day, where "they" were people on the Blu-ray side. I doubt Toshiba's decision was negotiated by anyone on the Blu side (unless there's some sort of massive deal we haven't heard about), so it doesn't fit.

I think Wal-Mart is what Penton-Man was talking about.

PM,

I'm gonna ask you the same question that I asked Max.

Does Toshiba really not know of retailers intentions until they are out in the open? It seems as if they're not prepared for this and they end up making some crappy comment to the public as a response.

Wal-mart going blu is like if Best Buy said they would only sell Pepsi at the checkout stand vs Coke. I don't think its a huge impact. Yeah they are one of the largest retailers but have you seen how they sell high def media? 3 out of 4 stores around me in Orange County California sells them behind a glass case or you have to ask an employee to bring one out from the back. Walmart is catered to JSP who has no idea what blu-ray or HD dvd is.

They most likely lose money stocking blu-rays too.

You’re correct.
I was referring to Wal*Mart all along, not Paramount, not Universal, etc.

When I said that the decision had been made but the logistics may yet be in place, I was referring to the timing of the *official* announcement by a spokesman of Wal*Mart at the Vice Presidential level or higher during St. Valentine’s Week.

I was hoping that it would appear by Friday but, I just didn’t know for sure.
