He is not completely blind in the one eye, I think he has a major stigmatism along with a wandering eye, but its good to know that there is an "override" option available but not yet used.

When was the last time you went to a theater that had a closed caption
option for a friend whose son is hard of hearing?

They have it at my theater. There's several open caption shows available every day. It's a cool system. A shield fits in the cupholder and provides subtitles invisible to the rest of the audience that are projected from the rear of the theater

My vision is 20/20.

So, if a theater chooses to exhibit a film only in its 3D version, I will have to pay for glasses I dont need, and have to wear them in order to view the film in its "lesser" format.

I aint a hater, but if this becomes a widespread practice I'll go out on a limb and predict the failure of more than one theater.

What European country will be next?
The dang Aussies are beating everyone to the World Cup punch in 3D with a pre-World Cup friendly match between the Socceroos and New Zealand next week…

You know, all this discussion of how fake 3-D can hurt the industry, I coulnd't help feeling that fake 3-D body parts are even worse (safe for work):

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/...ry?id=10611284

Hope disappointed me (hates the plastic look in both films with too much DNR and women).

Well, there are a lot of advocates for the 3D revolution from manufacturers’ upcoming cell phones taking 3D pictures and video…
http://industry.bnet.com/technology/...tipping-point/

to the more traditional Blu-ray movie bundling (cue Grubert)…

Never a dull moment in the world of 3D, that’s for sure.

Well thats kinda my point.. i want to bring my daughter to see Toy Story 3 during the summer as she really loves toy story... but the advice from our neurologist is not to bring her to see 3d.. that there's nothing to say it would do any harm.. but why risk it?

the only way i'm going to be able to get a non 3d version of the film in the cinema is to go to a run down crappy cinema...

or else i'll wait for the blu-ray.... its a pity she has to miss out on the experience of seeing films in the cinema though..

just as side question.. am i right in thinking that the 3d blu-ray spec mandates a 2d version of the movie to sit on the same disc as the 3d version? does that mean you need two encodes of the movie on the disc? i'm sure its been trashed out already... but whats that going to mean for lossless codecs and long films and lowering bit rates etc?

Cheers,
Mick

p.s i dont hate 3d... i love it - just in case anyone thinks i'm bashing for the sake of bashin

Oh, P-Man...

I forgot to mention, I guess the other one is that Ronaldinho was left out of the Selecao. Again, though, the more you've been following the scene, the less of a surprise that is.

I just read this post from a long time poster at AVS in regards to Saving Private Ryan. Quite amusing, though probably the normal first reaction to complaints read at AVS for most people that know anything about AVS.

Just came here because I just read my email from Amazon..Mine Saving Private Ryan is still in the plastic...I wouldn't have know anything for a few weeks even though I did read some members complaint about some lag issue, but I thought it was a regular day at AVS

No, I didn't know that.
Has his form dropped off?

But it quickly went downhill for the buck-toothed, smiling Brazilian after that. A loss of form and poor work ethic and attitude forced FC Barcelona to sell him to AC Milan and a cut-rate price.

Dunga chose not to take him to South Africa for last year's Confederations Cup or use him during Brazil's final stretch of World Cup qualifying games, as he was unimpressed with his series of shoddy performances for the national team, including at the Beijing Olympics where he was clearly out of shape.

After an uneven first year in Serie A, Ronadinho began to live up to expectations this past season, but reports of his rebirth and rejuvenation with the Rossoneri were grossly exaggerated.

Dunga didn't seem too impressed, either: Ronaldinho was not included in the team roster for Brazil's exhibition match against Ireland in London on March 2.

So Ronaldinho's failure to crack Brazil's roster for next month's World Cup hardly comes as a surprise. Neither does the exclusion of Adriano (overtaken by Grafite in the depth chart), Diego (poor form at Juventus this season) and Pato (injury-plagued campaign with AC Milan).

Doc, that's it... I hereby demand another (good) hint. 1991 film that uses a "reverse" dolly-zoom.

Give it.

Oh, shark... you started so strong and have fallen so hard. We've gone over so much of this before (my geography, etc.). Here I thought you'd exhausted the available research to get as far as you did, but maybe you just got lucky.

So, I'm now debating whether to toss out another bit of chum or send you back to the archives and tell you to "go fish".
