Hi,
is there anything known about faulty Blu-ray discs or BD-rot of season 1?
At the time of its release the discs were working fine, now I have some pixel errors and player crash on both discs at the first and the sixth episode.
So I bought a second set recently (same pressing, I assume): Pixel error on the last episode and player refuses to jump back to the menue after another episode.
Discs are in like new condition, player works perfect with all other Blu-rays.
Maybe there´s something on the way which needs more checking?!

It's possible and worth checking - but I'd also consider your Blu-ray player the possible problem here since you're the first one to report this and all 4 discs you've tried, 2 from each copy of the set, would have to have suffered the same problem.

The plant that made these discs, Technicolor Mexico (IFPI KK**), has one of the best track records for Blu-ray (previous wide-spread disc rotting has come from other plants), and this would have to not be just one bad batch but rather two, since the two discs of the set are obviously pressed separately (and by different machines, based on their mould codes).

These discs are extremely full (disc 1 in particular has basically used all available space), so they would require reading to the very edge of the disc, which might be a more strenuous activity that exposes a Blu-ray player/laser that is beginning to weaken.

Or maybe you did just get unlucky and get 2 bad sets. I'm sure SOME discs from every plant are defective, but that's some bad luck to get 4 bad discs in a row.

Seems unlikely, but meanwhile, the Chinese bootleg DVD set was out within days of the series first airing.

Even if they were releasing it this year (I doubt they will), you wouldn't know until about a week before release date and in tiny print too.

Netflix and Target have been pulling that shit for two sets already. Why stop now?

Great picture and audio quality. Really loved it, although a bit too scary for me at times. LOL

I was very pissed at the forced 5:30min long trailer at the beginning!
Are they kidding me? Can't fast forward, skip, or go to the top menu.
What the heck? Can it be skipped the 2nd time, or will that always infuriate me?

Can't wait to get season 2.

Next time start with Disc 2 and select episode 1 from the Episodes menu, it'll then prompt you to insert Disc 1. Boom, no trailers

If you can find it, get Season 2 in the 4k set. You get the regular Blu-ray too (without the DVD).

FINALLY Netflix got it right with Season 2 in 4k as it then has: an HDR grade, wider P3 color gamut, AND lossless audio. You can at least watch the standard Blu-ray's until you can move up to a 4k setup.

I got lucky when back in october both season 1 and 2 were 5 bucks each. I paid 10 bucks for season 1 (I had gotten it before the sale) . and 5 for season 2.
I was able to pick up season 2 for 5.

I am planning on, but it's pretty expensive right now. Definitly getting the 4k for that though.

Although in the time you could do that, you may as well just get through the trailers.

Except it takes 1.5 minutes tops to do the switch Vs over 5 mins to watch the trailers, so it's hardly the same at all...

The studios want a certain return on investment. If everyone waited for the bargain bin sales, there would never be another disc released.
