It seems like Netflix made enough stock to go to multiple chain stores and Amazon.

Perhaps the Target exclusive deal was a last minute decision.

Either way Netflix and Target really did the royal pooch screw on this release.

No mod here but it seems like people were treating it as a trading thread, it got closed at least once already because of that and then people did it again so it got closed again.

My 4K is on the way from the US anyways, many thanks to my Stateside benefactor.

After hearing about the issues with the 4K release I decided to ask my friend in the US to get me the $10 standard BD instead.... I had to have one of them :-)

Just picked up the 4K version from Target.

I thought the regular version was cool enough, but man the 4K version is even cooler looking in person.

Reminds me of those old Paramount Friday the 13th VHS releases.

I didn't backread this thread so sorry if this may have been brought up before already. I'm just curious to see if you guys have to deal with all the discs scratched and with fingerprints. I just opened what I bought during BF and was extremely disappointed with the discs being all scratched. I don't care about slips or other gimmicks with cases and stuff but the one thing I hate is seeing scratches with a newly purchased movie. The last time I had to deal with this was when I bought The Mummy Trilogy. Anybody else had the same problem? I'll try to exchange it tomorrow.

Just tested the 4K UHD and wow...the details pop even better than they did on the regular blu-ray.

Shame about the lossy audio...but whatever.

You can always just remove the discs from the VHS packaging and put them in a normal case. Cases are cheap, and you could even print your own trapsheet if you wanted to. At only $25 (or $10 on BF) for the set, you're not paying a premium cost for the packaging, so you don't have to feel bad about even putting the packaging in the recycling if it's not to your taste. (Compare to the more expensive pricing of Westworld as a recent example of a very similar product - granted it has a couple more episodes although both ST releases are combo packs whereas not all Westworld releases are, and either a tin and normal case or the very nice digipak, plus a booklet, which I like more than ST's posters.)

It's a blank VHS tape. No one will get paid. Maybe a free lifetime to Netflix and a copy of the movie.
