They're being nostalgic about the packaging, I guess they're also being nostalgic about how before the internet, movies just seemed to magically appear in stores one day lol

I have it on good authority that the decision makers at Target are big fans of Blu-ray.com and haven't advertised about this release yet, because they were having too much fun reading all the troll posts in the Stranger Things wishlist thread about how the TV show would never be released on Blu-ray, because Netflix wants people to have to stream it and how Netflix couldn't possibly release something on Blu-ray themselves.

And by the way, Target is going to be advertising this release. Make sure to pick up your Sunday newspaper this weekend. Target's weekly ad circular will be included. Look for the "Coming Soon" section. They'll be a big spread there. Don't expect any digital advertising on this though. After all, there wasn't the Internets back in the '80s.

Part of me wishes that everybody played this straight and stayed hush-hush to complete the magic show. Still nostalgic either way but that would have kicked ass.

Why woudl a high profile show like Stranger Things be released solely at Target? That is dumb. The worst part is that Target is probably going to spider wrap all of their copies, destroying the packaging like they do with every Game of Thrones season.

That hasn’t been confirmed, but the packaging is definitely exclusive to Target. Maybe Target also ponied up some cash to have a window of exclusivity? It happens quite often with retailers.
Maybe BB gets an exclsuvie steelbook?

Exclusives are not uncommon and rarely exclusive forever eventually being sold at all the normal places. Perhaps a chill pill is in order. Also, the retro VHS style packaging was digitally made to look worn. Any physical damage to the packaging will only serve to make the packaging look that much more authentic.

And I just have to say (in a general way), I really miss the '80s prior to Al Gore inventing the Internet. Back then we weren't constantly subjected every fleeting thought someone had, every little complaint and so forth someone decided to post online for all the world to see. Too bad we can't put the genie back in the bottle.

In my day, we'd complain to one another via the Pony Express. Took years to hash out our tiny squabbles. Sometimes it came down to fisticuffs, but even that took months of scheduling.

Sure just subscribe to Netflix!
In all seriousness, I don’t think it will come with a digital code. I figure it would be posted on Target sticker....but stranger things have happened.

Stopped in my local target and picked up the stranger things Monopoly and Ouija board. The employee was nice enough to grab them from the back for me.

There isn't even a blu-ray release, so obviously no digital copy.

Um... okay...

Not sure why I need to take a chill pill when I wasn't even angry.

And if you don't want to know everyone's thoughts, don't go on the internet. It's not rocket science.

Huh. When I searched in the DPCI, it says they're 'out of stock' in a 40 mile radius of my home address
