I had bought a copy online this morning for $32 and change as it didn't show as available for either of the two stores in my area. I ended up buying a copy in the afternoon at store #2 for about $26, but would like to return the online copy when it gets here. Per the employee I chatted with on the Target website help, I can return it to my nearest Target store, but will they refund me shipping? It was quite expensive, the $5 shipping I believe, so it won't be the end of the world if I lose out on shipping costs but $5 is $5...

Hey... Steve was a douche, but by the end of the Season 1, he had redemption.

And this thing is stellar! Easily the best release of the year.

Blind buy for me. I've been reading and hearing nothing but good things about this show for awhile now. Love the retro style VHS packaging and look forward to watching the entire season on my day off tomorrow.

Started watching this again tonight, it's so damn good. I was planning to just watch one a day leading up to season two, but the cinematic feel really just makes you want to keep watching after one is done.

I would absolutely recommend watching in pitch darkness if you can, it's awesome.

I blind bought it this morning and have already binge watched the entire season. It's spectacular! It's not often that a show can have THIS much hype & actually surpass it! The setting was SPOT-ON in every possible way of capturing the 80's. Casting couldn't have been any better, all around as well.

I've never been a Netflix member, but there is no way I won't be watching this upcoming season right away.

It's a good series and this set is clever. It looks great and obvious care went into it. I love unique sets like this, and it being as sturdy/heavy as it is instead of just some cheap cardboard piece of crap is a welcome surprise.

My sole complaint would be I would have loved it that much more if they used this poster for the cover:

Hopefully Target sticks with the VHS theme for future releases and doesn't leave us hanging.
I really like that poster as well. In fact, that's what I used for the Blu-ray cover art I've been working on. Preview image below.

My intention with the above was to precisely mirror the back portion of the retail packaging. I've actually worked up a few different versions of the above. Well, slightly different back portions. The front portion and spine are the same for each. Another preview image below.

For this version I managed to call out most of the specifications for the release. Close enough for government work anyway. In any event, I will be posting download links to the full size images (3173x1762) suitable for printing later today for those interested. Not able to connect to my FTP at the moment otherwise I'd upload the full size images now and link the preview images to them. :-P

Awesome work, I'm really looking forward to the high-res images and will definitely print both of them for a regular case. Speaking of which ... what case are these covers intended for? Thanks in advance!

Tried boths blus in the Xbox One S. No luck. They play fine in the PS3, however. That sucks!

Nothing on my normal Xbox too. Surreal!
Contacted the support and they asked me the gamertag to "collect more info".

I'm awaiting my copy in the mail, but based on the pics that users in this thread have so graciously posted, I'm a fan of the packaging.

As a rebuttal to those justifying the size by comparing to the Disney and rental clam-shell cases, this design is clearly mimicking the minimalist cardboard slip version. Thus you're comparing apples to oranges. Obviously the VHS cassette itself was the same size whether it was housed in a clam-shell or a slip. As someone else has pointed out, the diameter of the discs dictated that the width of the case needed to be wider than a real VHS cassette. In order to keep the proportions in line with a VHS cassette, it had to be made taller as well. Ultimately, when you compare the homage case (without slip) to a vintage VHS cassette, the case will obviously be bigger.

I totally understand those that would have preferred packaging that "fit" better among their other blu-rays. You at least have the option of moving your discs over to a standard case and printing a cover of your choice (in addition to the outstanding work above by AmishParadise there are some amazing artists in the custom covers thread). As for me, this will sit alongside my other novelty packaging (Marvel Cinematic Universe Phases 1 and 2, etc.).

Anecdotally, some of you may recall the outcry of the fickle masses over the "Homer Simpson head" packaging for The Simpsons Season One Six DVD set. Ultimately, an option for a standard size was offered. If memory serves, there was a mail-in option in which you could send in your proof-of-purchase in exchange for the standard packaging (plus shipping, of course). It was an amusing debacle with all the fervent debate about packaging.

It was actually Season 6 of the Simpsons (it was the first season to use special packaging which is where the confusion probably lies), but I digress.

Yep, horrible in any way.
Forcing you to watch a 5min+ trailer on a Blu-ray you bought should be a no go.
It's also annoying for people who haven't seen 'Stranger Things' yet or people who avoided all spoilers for season 2. If Netflix feels the need to add trailers, they should do it like every other studio does, make them skipable.

Loved the set. I watched all episodes for the first time. The set has lots of detail and reminds me of the Asian sourced box sets in design and execution.
