Had no clue this was even being released. Was in Target yesterday around 3:30pm. Grabbed one. They told me they had put them out around 3pm and they were almost sold out.

I've never seen a single episode of this. Don't have Netflix.

Gotta say that I really liked it. I think I get the finale, and if I'm correct they hinted at it a few episodes before when one character calls another a name.

I hope they'll release future seasons in the same packaging.

Has anyone compared the quality of the blurays versus the 4K Netflix stream and can attest that the PQ is superior?

I mean, duh, common sense says as much, but has anyone actually tested it? Because the 4K stream is fantastic, and I'm a fervent physical media enthusiast.

I ordered this internationally from bluraysforeveryone.com along with another movie and my orders have been saying "processing" for around 4-5 days now is that normal? I've never ordered from them before. I know stranger things came out yesterday but i would have thought the other movie I ordered would have shipped by now

Not everyone has Netflix and this is the first disc release. It’s not unreasonable to assume that a few people are watching this for the first time. Which is exactly why I used spoiler tags. I apologize if my comment led to anyone being spoiled, even if it’s a minor spoiler. I used to not give a crap about spoilers but then I was spoiled with Star Wars The Force Awakens. My opinion on the efffect or spoilers has changed and I prefer to be unsullied whenever possible.

SInce it's a single man operation I don't think it's unusual at all esp with a weekend involved. I guess it's possible he could be combining the shipments though I'm not sure if you made both orders together.

I thought there had been a couple comments saying the discs looked better than the 4K stream though I could be confusing with another Netflix release

I didn't know about this! thanks. I ended up ordering it off ebay *sigh* for about $60 CDN including shipping, taxes, and fees. same with the Target Alien Covenant exclusive.

This is the bluray thread. It just came out yesterday. I haven't had a chance to watch a single episode yet.

I don't have streaming services. I'm all about physical media.

I did this last night. I got right up next to my LG E6 and I could maybe see a hair - and I do mean a HAIR - more detail in the 4K stream, but I'll be damned if I could see a hill of beans difference between them if I'm being truthful. I watched a few minutes of the blu and I assumed that the grain structure (slightly soft on the disc) would be razor-sharp on the stream. Not so. Still has virtually the same attributes up close. Technically, I'm sure the 4K has the advantage...but practically? It's a virtual wash IMHO. And at a normal viewing distance, I'd challenge 99% of people to see a difference. The sound quality on the blu-ray, on the other hand, blows Netflix right out of the water. Even my wife noticed it right away, and she does not notice those kinds of things. I'm a bit shocked to say this myself, but considering the PQ is six of one, half a dozen of the other and the audio is far superior, the discs will be my go-to way to experience this series in the future.

Apples to oranges, and in more ways than one: resolution, bitrate and codec.

The Blu-ray PQ is pristine. Some info regarding the PQ and the maximized file size of each episode in the FAQ link in my sig.

If anyone is looking for this outside of the US, I have some copies available for non-US fans with no markup plus only the actual cost of shipping. (See the link in my sig / PM me for details.) Shipping an item like this properly to protect can be expensive these days. $60 CAD is probably not too bad at the end of the day, as long as the seller doesn't just throw it in a bubble envelope.

I can't speak of the particular processing time for this release, but I've ordered from that site a couple/few times and have never had a problem. As someone else said, it is basically a single man operation, so it may take a little while to get it, but so far I've seen no reason to be concerned when ordering from there.

I like that site since he parts out some releases. I actually just ordered the Target exclusive bonus disc (just that one disc) from Spider-Man Homecoming from that site, since I wanted that disc, but I otherwise wanted and got the Best Buy exclusive 4K Steelbook.

I also previously bought the Harry Potter bonus disc that was exclusive to the huge set off all of the movies (the Hogwarts collection or whatever it's called). I bought the individual Ultimate Edition releases previously, and I really had no desire to rebuy the whole set just for the extras. So being able to get just that one disc at a fairly reasonable price was awesome.

I've never heard of somebody (yet) being so OCD that they have to have related movies separate because of title alphabetization.
That's the way I do it. I start with numerical order like (12 Years a Slave, 3:10 to Yuma) etc.. then move to alphabetical. I put francgices together like the Bond films I put them in order based on release date. I do the same thing for the Marvel & DC movies as well as the X-Men/Wolverine films I did in chronological order but that's got so confusing I'll probably just do release date now.

I've also thought about adding them in by genre as well but don't think I'd like that as some don't really fit just one category.

Very temped, if it was the UHD I would have taken it home. I saw about 40-50 copies at my store after work.

Like with Stephen King's It, the camaraderie among the kids is one of my favorite aspects of the show. A commentary track with them would have been awesome. They get along so well outside of the show, and it's always pretty entertaining. I'm sure when the show was being made, extras, or even a Blu-ray release in general, probably wasn't a realistic prospective, so I understand why the release is barebones. Perhaps with Season two things will be different.

I guess I wasted a trip to Target last night and didn't need to bother with a store pickup. The shipped order that I tried to cancel shipped yesterday and was just delivered. Wasn't expecting overnight delivery. I've never received something that quickly from Target.

I got mine from Target.com today too, as I couldn't make it to the store yesterday. I actually find Target delivers my orders super fast, often the next day, or 2 days at most.

Yep, mine shipped yesterday and was delivered today too. I was about to swing by the store last night and grab a copy, but figured I'd give it a day to see if it shipped. Glad I did.

Agreed, but I think he was asking a more subjective "does one LOOK substantially better than the other" (to my eye, no).

I had similar hesitation at first, but having seen it, I'm very glad to own it.

This release sure looks like a huge succes. A Lot of traffic everywhere around this. I can not see any reason whatsoever Netflix wouldnt do such an exclusive deal with each season now on Blu-Ray and find a partner international as well for this.
