No idea what you’re even talking about?

Probably a stupid question, but I don’t suppose there’s any chance you put the DVDs in by mistake...?

It's hard for me to describe as I'm not an expert on visual anomalies such as these, but here are some examples:

Nah, it's the DVDs definitely. Again, could just be my TV. It's not professionally calibrated or anything of the sort (I just calibrate what I can until I reach the happy medium between my games and movies so they all look as good as they can without sacrificing quality).

It's not a very big TV either, and it also has those slightly annoying dark clouds that seem pretty inherent in every HD TV I've owned (even plasma). It looks like a dark, cloudy spot every time a shot is panning left to right or from the bottom to the top (but not visible at all when the camera is still).

I check the TV frequently for stains or dust, and though it IS dusty, aren't stains visible on screens anyway? They're always visible on other people's TVs and yet I have to maneuver myself in just the right way and with just the right amount of light or sunlight to catch any and all marks or debris. So odd.

Anyway, off-track, sorry. Was just wondering if anyone had experienced the same issue. No big.

If that’s the case by your examples don’t watch the show on Netflix. Maybe I just don’t notice anything, watch a movie in the theater & you will see it’s never perfect.

So wait, you ARE watching the DVDs?

Most people in this thread are discussing the Blu-rays.

If you're watching the DVDs, that's a completely different story.

Sorry, sorry, typo. I'm watching the Blu-rays. That happens to me a lot... I'm thinking one thing and typing or saying another.

Put in disc 2 tonight and got a read error. Disc looks perfectly fine but refuses to play. Will be taking the set back tomorrow and picking up another set.

That being said, finished episode 5 via Netflix this evening. This is our first time watching the series and we love it!

The top 10 best sellers of the week were just posted and this was #6. That's freaking fantastic for a store exclusive release of a tv show (which very rarely get into the top 10) that's Netflix exclusive. Hopefully this leads to more physical releases from Netflix (let's get those films out Netflix) in the future (season 2 will for sure get released).

Just finished watching season 2 & I will definitely buy it again once it comes out, especially if it’s released with a similar packaging. That’s awesome that it’s selling so well & Target is making a killing, I bet other stores are kicking themselves now.

The trouble is, though...for me to buy Season 2, it NEEDS to be a 4K UHD with Dolby Vision. It being available in DV on Netflix means a blu-ray will look worse.

As have I, but Season 1 is another animal. It’s not offered even in HDR10, let alone Dolby Vision...which is why I made the distinction that Season 2 - specifically - will need to be a 4K disc to make it worth buying.

As much as I love the main theme, Lay Z Boy is my favorite from the soundtrack.

I hope that with the strong sales they add more bonus features to season two's release. Even if it's just the "Beyond Stranger Things" segments they have on Netflix.

That’s true, but season 2 in 4K with Dolby Vision looks amazing.

I think my favorite musical moment has to be "One Blink for Yes" and its use in the final episode of Season 1... I won't spoil anything, but the juxtaposition of the chaos before it starts playing with its eerie ambient quietness, and how it ends just as the three adolescent leads stand together in a "poster shot", as I call it, out on the Byers porch...

Chills.

"Eulogy" is used to similar effect in Season 2's final episode and it too is glorious.

I haven't enjoyed a soundtrack to a TV show this much since Wendy & Lisa's woefully underrated work on Heroes (similar musical strands there too, even when talking about the original works from other artists seamlessly integrated into the textures of ST's score).

So much bonus material these days is just promotional fluff. I miss the days of fantastic DVD special features, which were usually much more like documentaries. As long as they put any bonus features on a separate disc, it's all good. Unlike most shows, they completely maxed the disc space with exceptional encodes on the Season 1 Blu-ray - I'd hate to lose that quality on the episodes themselves. The good news is that Season 2 is 9 episodes, so hopefully they'd do 4, 4 and the last disc with the last episode plus bonus features, or 3 and bonuses on each disc.

I’m hoping for some bonus features as well for season, I watched Beyond Stranger Things after watching Season 2 & it was a fun little bonus seeing the cast & creators talk about the series.

It's not hard to come down on the side of the Blu-ray compared to the 4k version as it is still compressed to hell with lossy audio. Their 4k stream has a lesser bitrate than the 1080p Blu-ray!!

Too bad Netflix will probably never release a UHD Blu-ray version of any of their Netflix Studio financed productions. It was a miracle we got a regular Blu-ray with half-way decent bitrates (for 4 episodes per disc) and lossless audio.

Default Stranger Things: Season 1 (2016) (Target Exclusive)

speaking of the bluray bit rate what is the average value for audio and video on those discs? I'm curious
