Is this film really all that? Screenshots look nice but it seem to be more of a tech demo than anything else.

Thumbs up

oh i scared a tiger.

The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest cat species, reaching a total body length of up to 3.38 m (11.1 ft) over curves and exceptionally weighing up to 388.7 kg (857 lb) in the wild. Its most recognisable feature is a pattern of dark vertical stripes on reddish-orange fur with a lighter underside.

i can't wait to sound GROWLING!!

No doubt i'm picking this one up. It's a gorgeous looking film, can't imagine what it will look like on 4K

Should hopefully look just as good as my BD in my 4K upscaling BD player.

Opips, we have a ‘Tabby’ with the distinctive M on its forehead, the legend of which has been a fun and interesting conversational piece, several times, when we’ve had different folks over for dinner….http://www.catster.com/lifestyle/tab...abby-got-the-m

Bails, not to say this will hold true for you, but I can tell you that during one Thanksgiving evening I showed the Life of Pi Blu-ray to a broad range of relatives (from the young (pre-teens) to the elderly (two in their 80’s), possessing a wide range of personal as well as professional interests and pretty much everyone thoroughly enjoyed the motion picture. A couple of viewers were so moved that they actually had a tear in their eyes at the very end with one particular shot.

I'll get round to watching it, I will save it for Ultra HD.

The Life of Pi looked sharp and rich with colours on 1080p on a 100 inch projector so I would expect it to be miles on top of this in UHD

Why when it was finished in 2K meaning 4K will be some kind of upscale? I'm hoping it will look much better but keeping my expectations low.

Again, regardless of the resolution, the clips of both Exodus and Life Of Pi look superb on the Samsung SUHD TV's. Bring on UHD BD I say

The human visual system has a contrast sensitivity function (csf) which enables one to see detail with HDR, which otherwise often would not be readily apparent with standard dynamic range displayed content. Cue the clip by one of the co-authors of a recent Best Paper (http://www.nab.org/events/awards/cur...rs.asp?id=2280 )

So, continuing , this parameter (csf) is applicable to 4K source content as well as 2K source content (like Life of Pi).

How do I know such things? Not by googling internet bloggers/writers with no formal training but by getting out the house and working/collaborating with people.

The downside though is that details such as any grain, noise, and strobe will also become more visually apparent and…..if they are deemed unpleasantly artifactual….have to be addressed by the operator and the asset manager.

Upscale sell-out, but HDR will look really great in this one.

According to best buy's website life of pi is supposed to be out, I even got a email saying that its ready for pickup, when i went in to pick it up though they informed me they don't have it in stock. Perhaps best buy got the release date wrong and its coming out on March 1st along with everything else?

Out of all the UHD blu rays this will be the first that I know of that will take up the whole screen 1:85 aspect ratio so I'm anxious to see how it looks in HDR/4K

There's something going on with Life of Pi. It's been pushed back to mid-to-late March according to an e-mail I got from Best Buy this morning. It has yet to ship from an order I kept open with FoxConnect. And it was the one title no Best Buy employee could find in the back last week when I went to their stores.
