He is. But somehow, Quantum has 22.1 thousand subscribers.
![]() The difference for me is that Linus Tech Tips is incredibly annoying (mannerisms, voice, patronising tone, script and delivery more than what his underlying message is). Last edited by mrtickleuk; 03-04-2020 at 09:15 AM. |

But in the main there's no discussion, only groupthink. Again, people might level that charge at this place and the cliques that spring up (ahem) but as long as someone's got something interesting to say and isn't wrong on some of the most basic fundamental levels then I'm happy to listen to them. |

The new LG 48" OLED will be priced at 1800 euros which is $2000 dollars US. Is that a good price? What would it actually sell for?

However, that second video is just flat out embarrassing for him. JW2 is one of the best examples of great HDR. |

UHD TV ‘not highest priority’ for European public broadcasters
Building infrastructure for and launching UHD TV services is not the highest priority for European public broadcasters and in many cases is being aligned with migration of infrastructure to IP, according to a survey by the EBU. According to the pubcaster organisation, interlaced standard definition and HDTV are still the most common formats used by broadcasters. While interlaced is expected to decline, with 576i/25 SD and 1080i/25 HD giving way to 1080p/50 or 2160p/50, it is likely that all the main production formats – 567i/25, 1080i/25, 720p/50, 1080p/25, 1080p/50 SDR, 1080p/50 HDR, 2160p/50 SDR and 2160p/50 HDR – will be in use for the next five years somewhere in Europe. According to the EBU survey, its members have adopted the HLG10 and HDR10 distribution formats for HDR, but has little interest in dynamic metadata HDR – the variants of HDR promoted by Dolby and Samsung that are deemed to be more suitable for on-demand content and services. According to the EBU, over half of the surveyed members not planning to use dynamic metadata HDR. Only three broadcasters confirmed plans to use dynamic metadata, with each expected to use a different system – SL-HDR, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The EBU said that members are interested in another aspect of UHD TV, Next-Generation Audio. However, obstacles remain, with respondents pointing to a lack of support for multiple NGA codecs by CE vendors, a lack of good user interfaces to access NGA features in TVs, and questions about the user acceptance of new services. https://www.digitaltveurope.com/2020...-broadcasters/ |

IMAX hit hard by Coronavirus
Giant screen specialist IMAX is hurting especially badly from the Coronavirus. IMAX receives some 31 per cent of its revenues from China but cinemas in China are closed. Not helping is that patrons to non-Chinese theatres around the world are also down. Last year generated record revenues for IMAX and this year, because of the number of blockbuster movies being released, was expected to generate even greater numbers https://advanced-television.com/2020...y-coronavirus/ |

I am not saying that the plug will be pulled soon. I am a positive person, but I can also face reality. With the ever-increasing rise of streaming, and the fact that 99.999% of the earth’s population could care less about obtaining the highest quality video, then the “hand writing is on the wall”. How many years is left in widespread studio support for disc is any body’s guess. I believe you and Geoff D will be posting until you go to Blu-ray.com and get the dreaded 404 Error
![]() ![]() But until that day, I intend to take advantage of the knowledge you gentlemen offer, so I can squeeze every last drop of video gooooodenss from my discs. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Containment is useless ... as if movies (entertainment) is more important than life itself. ...Movies @ the public theaters. ...Same thing for churches, restaurants, music concerts, audio shows, public displays (electoral nominations), etc., etc., etc. I don't think most people realize yet. |
