What I'm really looking forward to is Netflix's "Our Planet" documentary (from the creators of Planet Earth.) I think that's still a couple of years away, though. |

"There are a lot of ambient light situations that fit between the lighting scenario you described and absolute darkness. HDR is not actually bright just because the highlights are bright; the average picture level of HDR mastered content is not explicitly connected to peak highlight levels or the level of the backlight. Furthermore, HDR with Dynamic metadata does not require that the backlight stay all the way on, that's more function of watching HDR10 mastered content. Indeed, some people think HDR looks a bit dark." What is this all about? |

Adding to that ^ envy as to what others have had and continue to have, additionally, from SKY PerfecTV – 20 broadcasted 4K HDR HLG programs….and so far, 1 live football (that’s soccer to U.S. folks who are reading), ![]() |

The Great Debate in the minds of people who make a real difference (the handful of those in Control): Does one perform a true and accurate representation of the master grade to work on the various distribution mediums….or, does one embrace the characteristics of each of those various mediums? <- In particular, in other words, as to this forum’s TV-centric viewing interests….should one tailor the grade for consumer HDR TVs differently than the theatrical iteration, for instance, to leverage HDR TVs higher luminance capability? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-ljmv8_T78#t=2m26s Or strive more so as to maintain creative reproducibility, as much as technologically possible, from cinema to home display presentation. It’s a struggle……and a dilemma which was touched on in discussion by others at the event in Hollywood last April. |

For those whose professions involve a sedentary lifestyle like colorists, editors, etc. who are astute enough to care about their health before getting some wake-up call like a mild heart attack at a young age, there are actually industry seminars, e.g.
and such to help educate folks as to how better to take care of themselves (and thusly, more importantly, continue providing for those loved family members who depend upon them). Baring those recommendations from the above presenter, my friends and I have found our own successful program , howling and soaring ![]() https://vimeo.com/219454201#t=3m |

But since there aren’t any natural mountain bike trails on the Paramount studios lot at Cine Gear, in between the sedentary screenings and seminars (e.g. http://www.streamlinegraphics.com/So...st_online.html ) discussing such things as the value of 16bit depth throughout the production chain for best HDR - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post12993772

http://atsc.org/wp-content/uploads/2...Video-HEVC.pdf Apparently, the HDR video parts of ATSC 3.0 and DVB UHD Phase 2 are basically the same, i.e. "PQ" (i.e. HDR10 with or without static metadata) and "HLG". |

So that this page isn’t totally SONY-centric, for brand balance and folks more interested in cutting edge displays, rather than planned motion picture cameras, reminds me, as a follow up to the topic of dual modulation panel architecture , for those who didn’t attend the NAB show, elaboration by a different manufacturer, namely TVLogic….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhX1tJ6T8y8#t=6m50s

For the sake of new readers to this thread and not necessarily our regular contributors…..https://forum.blu-ray.com/misc.php?d...osted&t=276605 as was being explained several days ago to member LordoftheRings, the descriptive quote in the previous post refers to the cameras used to shoot the recently completed Amgen Tour of California, not Le Ride, to be clear.
