One of the bonus discs in my set has a couple of very minor scratches that aren't a big deal. The 4K disc for Afterlife though has several large scratches on the outer rim of the disc.

Anyone else have scratched discs or am I just that unlucky?

My set shipped from Amazon yesterday! But we got 2 feet of snow, so it won't arrive until Wednesday.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you may be aware of this site but I figured it best to still share!

This has a solid breakdown of the evidence of what was definitely shot, but yeah, could've been cut before they even edited anything together.

Also, what about this guy in the subway?

Confirmed shot and in the initial edit!

Just like with The Godfather set, once everyone found out the same discs were in both there was a lot less interest in the tat edition. If the tat edition had a unique disc, more would opt for it over the regular if they want the special features. Simple. Not sure what you’re going on about with needing to feel special.
Synapse learned years ago not to stick customers of the standard edition with missing extras. They tried the whole "steelbook gets extras the standard edition doesn't" and many customers weren't happy. Once they even pulled a couple audio tracks off a standard edition disc so those tracks were only exclusive to their steelbok edition. That didn't go so well either.

These days the standard edition gets the same video content as the steelbook/deluxe edition does. That's the decent way to do it. Stop making exclusive docs and extras most people will never see. That just leads to "alternate" ways of acquiring that content, since the publisher obviously doesn't want to get money for it any more. WellGo screwed customers over with their recent Phantasm 1/2 set which removed some of the extras from their sphere set, even after bungling things and re-stamping the discs. They lost lots of good faith over that one from me, and I will not buy any more of their discs until they're released and I know exactly what I'm getting on their discs. They've lost my trust.

More than likely just a different HDR grading, but the same underlying 4k transfer.

It will most likely be the exact same HDR grade* with just another DV encode.

* IMO questionable HDR grade btw., which is one of the reasons why I considered cancelling, because I don't need the same questionable HDR grade twice.

Its probably the same that has been on Apple TV for a long time. It has Dolby Vision.

Do you think that the HDR grade it's the same? Could it be the same of the "Remastered in 4K" release?

Yes, I expect the same grade as the previous 4K releases (plus MEL DV meta data and better base layer encode). No, I don't expect the same (IMHO more accurate/pleasant) grade as the Mi4K BDs.

I don’t know they did improve the karate kid and it was basically the same transfer so who knows.

And I am saying that I think (am sure actually) it won't look like Mi4k, but like the 4Ks with better encoding and DV meta data.

I’m always amazed how, with every hotly-anticipated release like this, we get dozens of posts of “my set just arrived!” and endless photos of the thing, but it’s invariably days later before anyone bothers to chime in with a technical assessment or A/V comparison with the previous edition. Heck, I’d even settle for someone posting about how great the original sound mix is to hear. I mean, don’t get me wrong, guys, I really am super glad your shipments arrived…

To be fair, some folks probably feel they aren't equipped to give assessments on it or do not possess the ability to take screencaps. Getting a "looks good" is always appreciated but just about anyone can do that.

The first thing I don't want to do when a hotly anticipated box set arrives is to screw around with screen caps.
