Mine is my present I can't open until the end of March. Mine came in a box and it looks like the box from Sony because it has similar striping on the sides the trap has on the top.

Everyone’s busy, though, right? I’m looking forward to getting my set on Wednesday but I’m not going to have time to watch even one movie at least until the weekend. Multiply that times however many members are getting this set and that’s likely what’s behind that.

I personally never want to give out my impressions because I am not qualified enough to speak on these matters. I am probably not the only person here who feels the same. It can get quite nasty if you say something "wrong" and get piled on for it. You see it all the time when someone calls a movie good looking but people disagree with them.

I rather leave it to the people who know what they are talking about to give a proper A/B comparison then rely on someone who might not quite grasp what to look for. It does mean you have to wait but I rather have a proper informed post.

No one has even reviewed the new special features. Pretty much no info whatsoever.

People don't care about the quality of the discs anymore. It's all about dem slipcovers.

If that was a shot at me, I hate to be the one to tell you, but I mostly bought this new set for the extras. And since I just watched all three films 2 months ago, it might be some time before I ever crack this thing open.

I'm a person with a very basic set up that can't even see a difference in DVD and Blu-Ray, to be honest. I watch movies to see the story and characters, I really don't care much else otherwise. I still watch movies on VHS if that's the only way I can find a copy to see the actual movie.

Heck I haven't even upgraded to a 4K player yet.

I don't inspect every aspect on the box for dings and I could care less if the discs have a smudge or a small scratch, just as long as they play fine.

With the theft in my area over the last year, I really am just glad that 'my set just got here.'

Sorry if that bothers you so.

To be fair, I wasn’t complaining. I was actually just commenting that I was amazed that impressions of the actual content always tend to lag for days behind jubilant posts about shipments arriving and photos of a set we’ve all seen by now. It isn’t a complaint per se, and it certainly isn’t “whining”. I just personally find it funny. That people apparently feel attacked by this simple observation frankly says more about them than it does me.

I understand exactly what croweyes means.

I would LOVE someone who has the UK set early to actually confirm what's included on the discs.

Pictures of the box (highlighting the lack of lights and slips) is one thing and certainly welcome BUT seeing as most of us are buying this set for the on-disc extras, I for one would really appreciate hearing from people who get it early.

The UK got stiffed on the 35th Anniversary release (which bundled in the old blu-rays, meaning we missed out on new commentaries etc) and I'd just like reassurance that the set I've paid an extortionate amount for actually contains what I assume I'm paying to receive.

I rely on posts in forums like this because Sony UK apparently can't be arsed to ever make details and information actually available to the very people they want to buy their shit.

I didn’t even know about that (I’m in the states). But that definitely sucks.

I'm quite surprised that after how massively anticipated this release has been that nobody has yet talked about the 114 minute preview cut of Ghostbusters. I'd love to know how it differs to the version we're used to, but have to wait until Tuesday to get my hands on a copy. If anyone has watched it, please share your thoughts on it, cheers!

This was one of the reasons why I bought the box in the first place, but we had a bit of a problem with our pipes yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to do anything.

It seems to be common sense that it would take longer to view the discs than open the set. Mine should be here Monday, but won’t have time to watch it until the following weekend.

I just want someone to confirm that these are the original stereo tracks and not downmixes. It is the only reason I purchased this set.

I’d love to know this as well, but I think we’ll get OG mixes. I trust Sony.

I saw some mention of Anatomy of a Murder in one of the threads. Not sure if true for that one. That's Sony.

My boxset arrived today from Best Buy via USPS. It looks really cool, and well put together. Later on I’ll put up some pics.

Oh, definitely. I’m not expecting a full watch from anyone. I can’t speak for anyone else, but the first thing I’m doing when mine arrives is popping the discs in and AB’ing a few scenes with the older discs. I’m also super interested to hear how the OG audio sounds next to the Atmos track since it wasn’t even offered last time around. I’m not saying that’s what other people should do…I guess it’s such a kneejerk thing for me to want to see how the new DV discs look compared to the earlier ones that it surprises me when others *don’t* do that first? First thing I did with The Karate Kid reissue as well. I dunno, could just be a me thing. Anyway, hopefully Amazon will get its act together and I’ll know how they stack up in a few days.

I bought two in the hopes that BB would ship them in a box - and they did. But of course all they included was a single sheet of toilet paper as the packing material, lol
