Yeah, this drives me crazy. And I'm pretty sure I'm getting one as Amazon says "Delayed in Transit". I kind of wish there was a way to make it illegal to re-sell consumer items for hugely inflated prices, in the same way it's illegal to gamble in some places or illegal to launder money. But I know that's a tall order and not likely to happen and could step on legitimate re-selling of used items and collectibles. Maybe the specification is that you can't inflate the price of something to that extreme within 5 years of the item's production? Don't know.

My solution is to just refuse to buy from them. I'd rather not have the thing than pay 3 times the manufacturer's price to a shady person who obviously just bought a bunch of them to re-sell.

Add one more defective Ultimate Collection set:

My set from Bestbuy.ca has two Ghostbusters II 4K discs and no Ghostbusters I 4K.

Also missing the Afterlife slip, as others had mentioned before. Not fun having these kinds of issues on a limited edition set.

Anyone had any luck seeking assistance? Perhaps from Sony directly?

Ghostbusters 1 and 2 both include a new Dolby Vision grade which I do think look a bit better to my eyes. Also the original audio mixes are included. The box includes digital codes for all three movies as well as the 2016 movie.

That's fantastic, but shame on Sony for limiting this release. I managed to find one on Amazon for $200 and nabbed it... hopefully there's no problems like I've been hearing with duplicate discs/damaged packaging

Did anyone who ordered from Amazon, had theirs shipped but then got stuck "Delayed in Transit" yesterday see any movement on theirs today? I have not.

You know for those of us that actually liked Answer the Call and think that it us canon because of the bill murray appearance here is a nice solution.

Get rid of the extra digipak (I hate that packaging). Put the first special features disc with a 3 disc viva elite for first movie. Ditto on second movie. Now if you find a rare slip cover for Answer the Call it fits nice and snug in the case. The quadrilogy is complete!

My set came with two copies of Ghostbusters II, so if anyone with the opposite problem wants to arrange a swap, let me know.

All this talk of wrong and doubled discs got me to open mine when I was tempted to hold off opening to wait for a possible more stripped down edition. I don't care to make a buck, just break as close to even as possible, but selling a sealed copy with the potential of it having the wrong contents and dealing with a return after the fact isn't worth the potential hassle. It is why I am hesitant about selling SteelBooks unopened. Well, all contents were correct. All three slips have wear down to white on the bottom edge near the spine and on the spine edge itself on the side that is usually facing out on a shelf on all three slips. Marker would look awful and I guess I will leave as is. GB1 discs are scratch free, GB2 4K is fine but the BD has some that made me look at the disc label - it says Disc Design 2022 so I couldn't swap with any existing edition because it is specifically for this edition. Now I wonder about Afterlife, both discs are pretty unacceptable. I would return discs looking like this, the 4K might even skip. The disc labels don't match the first two films so I am hoping this is the same discs as the standard release. Will have to swap I guess.

Got my set from amazon.ca today. All had slips and all the discs are correct! Very happy with this set!

Spider-man as a money grab is definitely plausible. Not releasing arguably (maybe not arguably?) your biggest franchise in Dolby Vision when you just dropped Dolby releases of (definitely not arguably) a less profitable franchise in Karate Kid, is suspicious. Then, they turn around and not only do the same Dolby Vision for Ghostbusters but also give it the "ultimate" treatment with the bonus discs. Once again, why not just save the money and drop in the HDR10 discs of 1 & 2 for the Ultimate set if it was going to be a limited run? So your cash grab theory, which I'm not outright disputing, applies to Spider-man and not Ghostbusters/Karate Kid? Are you saying that Sony's ideology was that Karate Kid is going to sell more copies with Dolby but Spider-man is going to sell anyway, so lets **** the fans and just re-issue the HDR10 without the blu-rays, even though the 4K discs have no extras? And release yet another stand alone blu-ray trilogy 2 months before the 4K? Like I said, I'm not disputing it, but it's a bit of a stretch.

It's canon because Bill Murray was in it playing a different character? Not sure how that works...

Mine arrived from Amazon.ca on time yesterday. It has the bilingual packaging, but the French is only evident on the J-card and on one side of the slip of paper with the digital codes.

I got it at the $160 CDN price point, but Amazon gave me a partial refund because it went down to $120 CAD after it shipped.

Also, does anyone know what the purpose of the sliding cardboard tab on the top of the box is?

Edit: I got all the correct disks, and Amazon packaged it in a small box that the set fit snugly into.

These movies exist to sell merchandise anyway and are offset by licensing deals and tie-ins, hence why we shelled out $100 for two movies we've bought multiple times over. Brand recognition aside, there is a ceiling as to how well these films will do, and Sony adjusted to that fact pre-pandemic by giving Ghost Corps a much lower budget than GB16. Had COVID not hit, this would have easily outgrossed GB16.
Spider-man blew it out of the water under much worse conditions after the variant spread. It's #2 all time opening weekend. You clearly like the franchise and you might even prefer it to Spider-man or Marvel or whatever, and I wouldn't blame or judge you for that. Ghostbusters is great. You can call beating 2016 a win if you want, but ultimately it failed at the box office.

This is apples and oranges. Budget, franchise, and expectations for these two movies are drastically different. Outside of a few exceptions, movies have done worse during the pandemic than they would have prior to it. Afterlife was far from a failure. The Last Duel was sadly a theatrical failure.

If you're only comparing it to Spider-man then every supposed blockbuster of the last two years is a bomb... which is kinda true... but Afterlife was so comparatively inexpensive and well received that there is no way Sony doesn't consider it a win.
