The question will be whether a newer set contains the bonus bluray - disc 2 is a blend of extras from GB 2 and Afterlife.

I don’t think the Afterlife stuff on the GB2 bonus disc would preclude it from being repurposed for a standalone GB2 release. It’s 10 minutes of promo fluff and plenty of movies include trailers and sneak peeks or whatever for their sequels.

Got it. So, since Lynda Carter was in "Wonder Woman 1984" as a different character, her mere presence means that the 70s "Wonder Woman" tv series is now canon within the "Wonder Woman" movie universe.

Makes sense.

This is almost exactly what I said yesterday.

Same problem here. No news so far of a replacement program. Folks suggest contacting consumer@SPHECustomerSupport.sony.com .

They’re two movies produced by Ivan Reitman featuring cameos by Murray, Aykroyd, Hudson, Weaver and Potts. The fact that one checks a little box that says canon and the other one checks the reboot box is pretty insignificant compared to the fact that the non-canon one is much more in the spirit of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.

Ultimately the definitive trait of both movies is that it’s painfully obvious that neither one is written or directed by someone involved in the creation of the first two movies. When two movies fail at legitimacy so thoroughly discussing canon is splitting hairs. ATC and Afterlife should be in a Bad Fanfiction Ghostbusters Collection where their stank can’t taint Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.

Well, I have Great News and Not-So-Great News.

Great News: My set was delivered tonight! I saw some movement start in the evening, the status updated to "Now Expected Tomorrow" and then about a half hour ago it was suddenly delivered. Mailed in a big brown envelope that was torn open and exposed...but miraculously there's no damage to the set itself! Lights work and everything!

Not-So-Great News: When I picked it up I heard the telltale rattling of a loose disc, and sure enough, upon opening the set I saw Special Features Disc 1 out of its tray (side note: why the hell couldn't Sony have just put these discs in a similar case as the movies?). However, it weirdly looks blemish free, whereas Special Features Disc 2 has several scratches (but was firmly in its holder). So I figure it must've got those scratches at the manufacturer. I obviously haven't had time to test it, but it looks worrisome.

Is it worth bothering Sony about this? I figure it might be, given the fact it's completely sold out and this wasn't a packaging or delivery issue. Anyone else seeing scratches that weren't caused by a loose disc?

The only thing I would be worried about is if the 40th set only had all new extras, since I could see them doing a cheaper new remastered 4k collection without the bonus discs or maybe no book as well

I guess I lucked out. My set came in from Best Buy today. It was packaged in a reasonably sturdy box with air pillows, and all the discs are correct and undamaged. And the lights work. I'm sorry others are having issues.

Interesting note about the "TV Cut" of GB1: It looks like it was assembled from the network TV inserts and a later 4:3 video transfer of the theatrical version. This is definitely not a 1987 broadcast master. It's full of those awkward, obvious digital pans Sony was using in the 90s on their full-frame transfers, and the TV inserts are of noticeably lower quality.

The GB2 TV cut, however, looks legit. It even has the "Edited For Television" title at the beginning.

Not a huge deal; just something I noticed.

I just took a look at eBay and wow yeah. Man, people like that really suck. I feel for the fans who missed out because a bunch of jackasses bought a dozen copies to flip and rip off collectors. I saw one copy and was like "oh hey that one's like 100 bucks. Not bad." Yeah. It was for the digital copies. Jesus Christ. $100 for 4 digital copies? F*ck off. Unreal.

Checked my set and all the discs are correct and accounted for. Hopefully the folks that issues are able to get replacement discs. You'd think though that for the money they are charging that they could at least get the proper discs in there :/.

One guy is selling JUST the code for ATC for $1,000,000. But it's for charity!

I don't care about the book, but I'd hate to see those bonus discs trapped in a super limited OOP $150 box forever.

Personally, as much as I liked Afterlife, since Ultra HD Blu-ray launched, I've really just wanted a set that has Ghostbusters 1 & 2. The new set is really cool. They did a great job. I was lucky to get an order in on FYE.com. But personally my preference is a set with just 1 & 2. Regardless, I think some sort of 40th anniversary release being in the pipeline would reasonably explain why Sony would want this box set off the market in the snap of a finger.

Returning an online order to a local Best Buy for an exchange is a nightmare. I went through it last year with a scratched disc and I'll never do it again. They didn't have the disc in-store and they made it as difficult as possible to get it sorted out. I had to go home and order it online (they said they couldn't from the store), then when it arrived the following week I had to go back to the store again and return the first set. Before all that I called the main customer service line and they said I'd have to take it into the store to get it exchanged - they wouldn't just ship a replacement, unless I bought it again, then returned the first one in-store, which is essentially what I ended up having to do. Never again.

With WalMart it's easier but it's still a trip to a local WalMart and standing in line.

Amazon sends me a replacement and I don't even have to send the other one back until I get the new one, in case the replacement is worse. Great for mixing-and-matching large box sets where both sets have different scratched discs.

They could at least make the effort. No more than two per address. That would stop a good amount of the casual scalping. When you can just order 10 limited editions at a time, they're practically inviting scalpers. Sites like Diabolik put a limit on limited editions. Why not Amazon? Oh yeah, because they don't care.

I second this regarding Best Buy. They really suck with returns, and it's an incredibly stupid process. I had ordered the Harry Potter 4K collection from the Best Buy website, and it arrived absolutely mangled. Went to request an exchange, but of course you can't do that with Best Buy. They make you return it to the store, get your refund, and if you want them to send you another copy, you have to go back online and place an entirely separate order. Luckily the box set was still on sale so after I got my refund I placed another order. This one arrived in slightly better condition, but when I opened it, a bunch of the discs were loose and sliding around, and they were scratched to hell.

That's when it became a bloody nightmare to exchange. The guy at cash was giving me such a hard time because I had opened the package and said the best he could do was store credit, yet when I requested the return online it specifically asked me if I opened the package. I said yes, and they said I could expect a full refund. After back and forth with him, I asked to speak to a manager, who told me the same thing. After I showed him the email and the confirmation saying I should get a full refund, only then did they do it (albeit hesitantly). He proceeded to personally inspect EVERY SINGLE disc in the set. All 16 discs, before he would go through with the return. This whole ordeal took like 20 mins. Couldn't even order a new copy because by that time the price had gone back up. Like at least familiarize yourself with your own company's policies. It was such a stupid experience. I will never do it again. Ended up eventually getting the Harry Potter set, but I certainly took my business elsewhere.

Really hope they release more of this set. I had it pre-ordered but had to cancel for financial reasons. Really want to get that bonus disc.

I really only wanted this so I could get Ghostbusters 1 and 2 in Dolby Vision. Think they will release them outside the box set?

Or if your in Los Angeles, that the train or truck it was on got hijacked and the packages were either stolen or trashed
