its funny a few hours after they told me they processed the partial refund for 70 dollars, i got another email saying my refund 109 was completed so apparently she just went ahead refunded me the whole cost. amazon screwed up on how they shipped this but i am very happy that they are attempting to make it right, really the only way they can since there arent anymore available.

Besides, those same "indications" in that video were probably pilfered from what member SB0780 said on this very forum some months back, that redone DV discs of GB I & II were being done (obviously to cash in on the new movie) but that was literally the extent of it, it wasn't some cast-iron assertion that those two would be released on their own or in their own double pack. More like people assuming shit and drawing their own conclusions from it.

And the idiots who infest YouTube with their assumptive 'scoops' are missing the bigger picture, like with the reprinted Making Of book in this Ghostbusters set: any time you're licensing something like that (or a soundtrack CD, say) from an outside party you're paying for every run that you do, hence this being a GENUINELY limited edition unlike Labyrinth or the KK trilogy.

As for no standalones of GB I & II, there are no standalones of KK 2 & 3 from the trilogy boxset either. That's not the exact same situation I know as that box is still freely available, but the principal still applies that Sony are seemingly happy to redo all this stuff and potentially miss out on sales because people don't want/can't get the whole thing. Sony also did the same thing with the previous UHD anniversary edition of Ghostbusters, remember? They didn't remaster the UHDs (though they did new editions of the BDs) but had a new bonus disc that was exclusive to a similarly very limited edition steelbook in the US.

I just don't think there are any conspiracies here. Sony have long been reducing print runs on their UHD catalogue product especially in North America, and even for something like Ghostbusters they're not going to make exceptions, not for a first run anyway. [edit] This is also why there aren't concurrent standalones for North America, see also the Resident Evil (also limited edition, released some 14 months ago with no sign of standalones for 1-3 & 5 for the NA market) and Underworld sets come to think of it. This is the same company that's sitting on standalone UHD releases of Lawrence of Arabia (18 months and counting since the release of Columbia Collection vol.1) and Taxi Driver too, so to me this proves that NOTHING is too big for Sony to shelve. Sony are being Sony, that's about it.
Sony was actually quite happy with Afterlife's box office durring the middle of the pandemic. as they told us and thanked us for helping make it a success durring the monthly conference call with theatre exhibitors.

My personal opinion? Yes, in 2024 for the 40th anniversary.

It definitely isn't canon, sorry.

The GB 3-movie collection released few years ago had a nice commentary track, with a lot of informations, curiosity etc

Watched the preview cut of GB1. There's a lot of great new bits in it, but if you've seen the deleted scenes from the bonus disc of the last set, a good chunk of the new stuff is in there.

Makes sense.
Heck yes. Any Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter makes it a must own and is absolutely canon.

Now it does not work the other way around because the new did not start it all. That fact alone does not make it connect.

In other words if you have everyone but Lynda Carter it does not work.

Finally you are getting it. I would also stretch this to her body. If those lucious pantyhose legs are on display for even a snippet...instant canon.

The failed pilot (s) do not count because the popularity came from Lynda.

Back on topic, I love that Sony is limiting their precious catalog that was also the Twlight Time model (but failed because they did not own the absolute product and thus were in competition with others). Yes the crying happens over and over about Disney, but who in their right mind would lose it over Lion King II Simba Pride etc...

You snooze you lose. Stop pretending we have a creator given right to things we do not own. The key to survival is limiting and appreciating what you have, not whoring your catalog out for pennies.

Is there any difference between in PQ between the HDR10 versions of Ghostbusters 1 & 2 and the DV versions or is it a wash? With Labyrinth it was essentially the same transfer. With Karate Kid there seemed to be a boost in brightness. Although when doing a side by side comparison with 2 UHD players going into my C6 oled with identical settings the difference was far more subtle than the caps would suggest.

It'll be the exact same base transfer, just with Dolby Vision HDR. The difference is likely to be minimal. The original audio though, that's what really sold me...and the cool packaging and boatload of extras. And I already own the 4K steelbook set too.

Lucky!
They keep telling me to return mine for a refund.
I keep telling them I don't want a refund. I want some sort of credit for a damaged item.

Seems like they want it so that they can sell it as new again but with a higher price via supplied by amazon.

Oh I know. People keep mentioning Afterlife's modest haul falling short of GB16's and on paper it certainly did. But as Afterlife's budget was almost HALF that of GB16's it's actually made money on its theatrical run, whereas GB16 lost tens of millions. Afterlife didn't make Spidey money, no, but what else does in Sony's repertoire? Any time you make a profit on the theatrical run of a movie you're good, and the ancillary income after that is pure profit (costs and residuals aside) rather than plugging the gaps left by the box office shortfall.

Uh, no dude, CLEARLY it bombed so hard that Sony told production facilities (likely international) to stop the presses. YouTube told me. There's no way supply chain issues nor scalpers exploiting an infantilized culture in a dying disc market would explain the scarcity issue.

I had ordered the Harry Potter 4K collection from the Best Buy website, and it arrived absolutely mangled. Went to request an exchange, but of course you can't do that with Best Buy. They make you return it to the store, get your refund, and if you want them to send you another copy, you have to go back online and place an entirely separate order. Luckily the box set was still on sale so after I got my refund I placed another order. This one arrived in slightly better condition, but when I opened it, a bunch of the discs were loose and sliding around, and they were scratched to hell.

That's when it became a bloody nightmare to exchange. The guy at cash was giving me such a hard time because I had opened the package and said the best he could do was store credit, yet when I requested the return online it specifically asked me if I opened the package. I said yes, and they said I could expect a full refund. After back and forth with him, I asked to speak to a manager, who told me the same thing. After I showed him the email and the confirmation saying I should get a full refund, only then did they do it (albeit hesitantly). He proceeded to personally inspect EVERY SINGLE disc in the set. All 16 discs, before he would go through with the return. This whole ordeal took like 20 mins. Couldn't even order a new copy because by that time the price had gone back up. Like at least familiarize yourself with your own company's policies. It was such a stupid experience. I will never do it again. Ended up eventually getting the Harry Potter set, but I certainly took my business elsewhere.

~Matt
I never did end up getting that Harry Potter set because of the same stupid experience. Ordered one on sale and it came totally mangled with next to no padding in the box. The tin was so twisted that it had broken through the plastic wrap itself. I never touched the inside contents.

My Amazon order changed from Arriving February 9 to Arriving Wednesday which is February 9.

I asked this a few pages back and got no opinions,Since my copy hasn't shipped yet, does anybody think it's worthwhile to contact Amazon and asked if it can be shipped in a box instead of a bag?

If you're willing to pay more and can update the order's gift options, then it might work. You can pay a small fee for the gift wrapping and ask that it be shipped in a box. Someone commented to that effect earlier in this thread, not sure if it works once the order is placed.

Amazon is a huge company and every department is clueless of the next. They are not a mom and pop store.

Don’t bother.

And the changing to Wednesday is just because your projected delivery now falls within the week. Yesterday if it said “arriving Wednesday” it would have meant 2/2.

Nice to know I'm not the only one having shipping issues with this. Shipped from Amazon, made it to my local post office in KY, and now its somewhere in IN. Guess I'll wait to see what kind of condition its in when it arrives.
