There was just no other characters introduced between the two movies that indicate a strong possibility. Though I read the popular theory is Janine. You would also have to assume Janine and Louis didn't stay together after GB2. The only way it works is if Egon and her got together between GB1 and GB2. Though her comment about motherhood in GB2 does indicate she never got pregnant before.

She hated Egon and scientists but didn't really seem to hate her mother. Granted, she didn't say much about her...
Her son is 15 and daughter is 12.
The pictures in Egon’s secret work area had at least one (I think) that said “1983”
So she was born before the first film. She also makes it very clear that she never met him so he was never in her life whatsoever. I theorize that her mom was possibly a student, colleague even?, and it was clear he’s focused on his work and studies and it was better to not be in her life, which obviously had a negative impact on her. Wouldn’t mind a sequel exploring this more.

Just arrived from Amazon.ca (was due on the 14th). Yay! Was in a sturdy box with air pillows. Perfect condition. Very relieved after the horror stories about bags and damaged sets.

Maybe that's why he's so ... distant ... with Janine in the first one ...

Y'all ready to get mad?

I just transfered GB1, GB2, and the new special features discs to two three-disc flipper cases so I could slot Answer the Call into the box as it should have been from the beginning.

If I threw this mutant box set up on eBay and called it the RARE 4-FILM PRE-PRODUCTION VARIANT, I could probably get one million dollars for it.

(Saves eBay search for "Ghostbusters Ultimate 4K Collection 4-film edition" to see how long it takes for one of you jokers to actually do this.)

Got home from work today and found my package on the back porch, the USPS has yet to fail me! They walked up icy steps and clear down my driveway!

Yeah…or maybe he never knew about her and found out about her right before he had his, I don’t want to say “mental break”, but his need to run off to Summerville. It could’ve been too much for him and he felt like he needed to protect the world even more than before and all those photos and news clippings were sent to him by Callie’s mom after he got there. It’s fun to speculate what it could be though.

Nope. Fanfiction written decades later doesn’t change the nature of the way a character was written and portrayed by the person who co-created the character.

Jason had help from both Ivan and Dan with writing and directing.

I guess you didn't care for the movie? Is that why you called it fan-fiction?

Calling a sequel to anything produced decades later "fanfiction" is the hip thing to do, regardless of how many members of the original creative team were involved. Didn't you know? It's a defense mechanism; keeps these people from getting old, or something.

Some people are getting duplicate discs, but mine were all correct, so it seems to be a random issue.

There don't seem to be any technical problems with the discs. The TV cut of GB1 is apparently a later basic cable edit, rather than the one that aired on network TV in 1987, but I doubt anything will be done about that.

A couple of people keep insisting that Egon can't have any emotional attachments even though there is absolutely nothing in the movies to warrant such a take.

There’s absolutely no evidence that Aykroyd contributed to the writing. Now you’re writing fanfiction.

It was obvious to practically everyone who ever watched a Ghostbusters movie, I just happened to find footage of Ramis saying it explicitly.

Fatherhood also inspired Ramis to include the Oscar storyline in Ghostbusters II, but Ramis knew better than to make Egon the father.

No, it’s just that Ghostbusters Afterlife is quite literally fiction written by fans of the movies as opposed to the creators of the movies. And said creators have years worth of ideas that were ignored in favor of that fanfiction.

Anyone have BDInfo yet for the new discs from the boxset? Scans of the back of the slipcover, and scans of the front and back of the case? The database entry was messed about with again and I'm sure it's not fully accurate.
Thought caps-a-holic would have a BDInfo scan of both the 4K+BD already, unless if the person on the site didn't order it.

I love that bit in Ghostbusters II when Dana kisses Egon on the cheek and he looks like he's about to burst with happiness. But the writers knew better than to leave it there, following it up with "let's see what happens when we take away the puppy".

What I think is utterly hilarious about this whole Egon thing is that Afterlife makes it quite clear he DIDN'T have a family. He had a daughter with some unknown woman, yes, maybe from a brief fling, but it was all over by the time of the OG movie and didn't rate a mention as he stayed out of her/their lives. Funny thing is, it puts that same puppy scene in a new light, what with a young girl being one of the subjects.

Hot Mama! I've got everything coming in tomorrow.

First,my Ghostbusters Ultimate Connection has shipped and will be arriving tomorrow by 10pm,a day earlier then expected.Arriving tomorrow by 10 PM.

But here's the kicker,my Stargirl Season 2 Blu Ray is arriving with it,a week earlier then I expected.Stargirl Season 2 is released tomorrow but Amazon said it wasn't coming until next week. But it's arriving with the Ghostbusters set in the same package.

So I'm curious about the packaging. Will they be packed together? If they are, will it be a bag or a box since it's two items?

Once it arrives and hopfully undamaged, then I'll worry about any double disks or missing slipcover.

On top of that,I've got coming in from Best Buy also tomorrow,Summer School with it coming via USPS and Catwoman:Hunted steelbook which is arriving via FedEx.

Anyone else who has the time. Here is several ways to see the original ABC Premiere. I tried but my players won't play MKV or you can check out the Internet Archive link.

Like many, I missed the detail that the collector's set was so limited. Has there been any indication as to whether or not the new DV-enabled discs for part I and part II will be released on their own?
