Just had my WOW payment refunded for this set. Gutted. Between this sort of thing and bad quality control it will be the death of physical media.

It was the same thing when I had to get a replacement for Ex Machina from Lionsgate. Some studios will even ask you to break discs and send proof that way.

Wellllllll I got my set this afternoon. I knew I was in for a real treat when I was greeted by this.

First thought that crossed my mind...

Thank you Mr Mailman for shoving my beloved box set into my mailbox. Don't you know ghosts are claustrophobic? Had Amazon been smart enough to actually ship this properly, you would have needed to get out of your car to deliver my precious package. Sorry that I inconvenienced you. I will no longer plow a spot in front of my mailbox for you. You're dead to me.

My set took some lovely damage.

How in the actual fu*@! are we getting damage from inside the packaging? Did the packing person drop it before placing it inside? I love how they give us smashed up slips and cases but go out of their way to place that little cardboard protector inside.

So I called Amazon directly and the woman told me I could send it back. I told her that is not an option as it is sold out. She then said she would process a replacement for me, but then quickly said it was not possible to do so on her end AKA it's sold out and likely not coming back. I was finally getting through to her! So we were back to me sending it back for a full refund. I explained to her it was not an option as I wanted the set. I then brought up the partial refund option. She asked me to hold as she checked. She came back with a silly figure of $13...

I accepted it. Not much I can do at this point. I expressed how I felt about the packaging and that was about it. Really sad situation for some many of us collectors. I feel your pain. I've been getting movies a very long time through Amazon and other retailers and this is by far the worst packaging I have ever seen.

On a more positive note, I did receive all the correct discs along with their corresponding slipcovers.

How Amazon/USPS feels right now regarding how they go about shipping/packaging/handling.

I tried to search this thread, but couldn't find anything with the search feature - where do I need to contact to get a corrected disc for Ghostbusters if I have a duplicate of Ghostbusters 2?

What I think is utterly hilarious about this whole Egon thing is that Afterlife makes it quite clear he DIDN'T have a family. He had a daughter with some unknown woman, yes, maybe from a brief fling, but it was all over by the time of the OG movie and didn't rate a mention as he stayed out of her/their lives. Funny thing is, it puts that same puppy scene in a new light, what with a young girl being one of the subjects.

I can't even comprehend how this is a thing. We have about zero insight into the personal lives of the Ghosbusters with the exception of Venkman because he was given an onscreen romantic relationship. Yet, some have so much incredible insight into the Egon character that they know he is not the type of guy who would ever have pictures of a child.

The fact that this started with the hyperbolic phrase "family man" to describe a guy who seemingly never even met his family about says it all.

Internet Archive is where I've watched the original 1987 broadcast and it's quite excellent. After reviewing whatever television version Sony decided to put on this newest set, it looks like I'll still be keeping that site bookmarked.

I got two copies of Ghostbusters II 4K instead of the first movie as well. Not that I can currently have a 4K player, so it's more annoying than anything. But going to request a replacement too. Otherwise the set's in good shape.

So all slips and discs accounted for, but somehow the protective plastic has scuffs all over, the cases themselves felt oily and....the lights are not working.

What do you want me to do? Link a YouTube video for every second that Egon is onscreen? Because that’s what I’m going off of.
