Meanwhile, I'm over here waiting anxiously for that WowHD shipping notice. Ugh, sorry for bringing up shipping notices again, I'm about to get haggled into oblivion
![]() (For reals, though, I hope there's a unit allocated to me and WowHD is just waiting for that allocation... if they over-allocated and I don't get one, ze Butler will be mucho pissed) |

Post number #4966667. The new one in the set also gives credit for it. Seen in an image at the bottom of the same page.

The batteries in my old Night Rider DVD boxset (lights/audio) are still working, and those are even replaceable... so they can last for well over a decade in these types of sets — if you don't open/activate it that often of course. |

I wish I held on to the Knight Rider DVD set...that was pretty sweet. My Close Encounters 4K set is not as loud as it once was. I can tell it's only a matter of time before it no longer lights up. It's just a gimmick but it would be nice if they included a way to actually change the battery without destroying the packaging.

My WOW preorder was cancelled and my payment refunded after I enquired about my order. They don’t have any more in stock as they over allocated the box sets.

Considering how many of these got "lost", and how many copies the re-sellers seem to have (the one I ordered from still has 19 in stock!), I really wonder if there was some clandestine operation among delivery personnel to "lose" the legitimate orders and slip to the re-sellers. |

I just finished watching all the movies and all the extras contained in this wonderful set. I received it 6 days ago (saturday) and even watching several hours of material each day, I almost needed a full week to finish the disc content (and I haven't read the book yet!).
First of all, at this point, I gotta think that the money savings that Amazon gets with their awful shipping methods are far bigger than the costs they absorbe with returns and refunds, I mean, that has to be the reason. I'm from Mexico and they ship the set in a brown paper bag. [Show spoiler] To my surprise, the set was pretty much intact. There's a tiny dent in the base of the box, but it looks like that was done in the factory when they were building and shaping the box as a trap. I had to wipe some smudges on the discs and the Afterlife 4K disc has a tiny scratch, but thankfully there are no playback issues on the movie or the extras. I just love how colorful the first two movies look. They're not Willy Wonka or Wizard of Oz colorful, but there are reds, yellows, greens, blues, purples, etc., all types of tones as opposed to many modern movies, where brown, gray, orange and teal are very prominent and black tones can look almost dark grey. Anyway, I never had much of a problem with the original Ghostbusters 1 UHD, but the Dolby Vision presentation offers a small, but welcome improvement. The very grainy scenes are still grainy, but overall the image looks slightly tighter. The theatrical audio is my most welcomed addition, though. Isn't really nice when a studio offers something for everyone? The ATMOS or die crowd can listen to their ATMOS track, and the Theatrical audio or bust crowd can select their preferred audio track as well. I never had the Ghostbusters II original UHD or even a Blu-ray copy, but it also looks really great and the image looks more solid than GB1, but I suspect that was always the case. Ghostbusters: Afterlife, well, it is a modern movie so the color palette is not as wide as the original movies. It actually goes for a darker color grading and the HDR is pretty much reserved for the visual effects. To me, it's pretty evident that all of that is a conscious aesthetic choice, and I have no problem with that. When the HDR kicks in, it looks very good. The real winner here is the audio. I love how loud the proton packs sound, how notorious the Ecto siren is, and overall all sound effects pack a nice punch. As for the extras, most of them have amazing replay value. All the remembrance featurettes have a nice mix of interviews, movie scenes, pictures, nostalghia, anecdotes, you name it. The commentaries are kind of a mixed bag. The Slimer mode is by far the best one if you consider that a proper commentary. The GB1 commentary with Ramis, Reitman and Medjuck is the best one of the audio-only commentaries. The GB2 commentary with Aykroyd taking over for Ramis is far less entertaining, it shows that when they recorded it, decades after filming GBII, the memories weren't very fresh. Reitman even goes as far as thinking that he directed Dave (1993) before GBII, and confusing M.C. Hammer with Bobby Brown. There are also many long silences. The preview cut commentary also runs out of steam every now and then, but offers good technical trivia, so it's solid. The Fan Commentary is a little 'meh' at first, mainly describing goofs and stuff like that, but after a while, they share nice personal stories so overall it totally serves its purpose. The preview cut is also one of the highlights here. Very rough-looking (transferred from a tape, image all squished like a non-anamorphic DVD), but watching the movie like this, with no music, different sounds, no special visual effects, different takes, deleted scenes, is a very interesting experience. Definitely will revisit that one many times. The TV versions for both GB1 and II, well... maybe it's just me, but watching the movies in SD and with cropped ratio just to hear a handful of different dialogues and watching some alternative takes wasn't that appealing. The Dana auditions and the Dailies could have used some editing in my opinion. A 3-minute clip per actress would have been good enough for me. Also, in the Dailies section, 5 or 6 takes per scene would have been more than enough IMO. The GBII deleted scenes, well, like most deleted scenes in most movies are mostly the "I'm glad they got rid of that" kind. Some bits are good enough to think "well, maybe they could have included a portion of that scene", but yeah, most of them are fascinating to watch, nevertheless. The rest of the GB 1&2 bonus content is fantastic. I mean, even the things that I didn't enjoy all that much offer great value for the fans. Afterlife is interesting. It offers like 60 minutes of bonus content, which is good enough for most recent movies, but at the same time, I feel like I need more bonus features. One deleted scene is way too little and the absence of a movie commentary is kinda sad. All things considered, this a fantastic set. I love it. |

sure, a package gets lost now and then, and with so many ordering, you might expect a few of anything to get lost, but how is it that so incredibly many of this particular, known to be sold out, $$$$$ item, have all suddenly gone missing as soon as they hit the regional mail hub and in all cases mail seems to have zero clue what happened?? I almost wonder if the police don't need to start looking into this. it's almost starting to sound like some major internal scam in US mail system. maybe it's just one of those times when you naturally get 20 heads in a row, but you do start to wonder. pretty pissed since this may cost me (and seemingly quite a lot of others) $200 bucks. |

Actually, that bag is not padded, it looks the same on the inside as it looks on the outside. Also, it looks like at some point someone opened that bag (perhaps before clearing customs on either side of the border) and they just put some tape over that. I'm just glad the set survived the trip and I got the correct discs without any harm.

Anyone get one from ImportCDs? I preordered on the day this was announced. It's now "out of stock" and 2 enquiries have garnered nothing than a standard "It's on back order" type response. DeepDiscount, their sister company, has shipped theirs I see...
Very disappointed if I don't get a copy and it's not reissued with the new extras (I bought the Steelbook 1/2 and upgraded to this set for the early cut at GBII deleted scenes, plus I was going to buy Afterlife as well). |
