sorry I am so late to the party, but are there no plans to ever restock on this? If they had said up front is was a very limited edition I would have jumped on it, but I didn't realize stores (including Amazon) would get them once and then never again.

Actually, even if I knew that it wouldn't have helped. I tried multiple times to pre-order it from multiple places and it was always just unavailable or listed as "coming soon", then went to "sold out" without ever being available.

Hey all, for those who got a refund back from Amazon, how long did it take to get? I only asked because the rep that I was chatting with ended the chat before I could ask how long it would take to get to me (well, it's really my fault because when he asked if there was anything else he could help with, I said "nope" lol).

They're giving me a full refund back, which was a surprise!

No one knows but I doubt it with the 40th anniversary in 2 years Sony will probably release another version with new extras and maybe with a whole new transfer to get people to buy again. I miss out on the set myself because I was sick with covid so i know it sucks but like I said you can pretty much be sure Sony will release a new version of the first movie in 2024 to get people to buy again.

Oh for sure they'll do something in 2024, there'll prolly be a new set and/or standalones with these newly authored discs for the anniversary. It does seem odd that Sony jumped that anniversary gun by a couple of years but Afterlife was a prime cash in opportunity and I guess they just wanted to get them out there now in a limited edition. They've sat on a standalone of Lawrence for almost two years and if they're happy to do that with one of their crown jewels then holding on to these GB discs for two years doesn't seem like a big deal (to them). But we'll see.

Anyhoo I delved into more of the extras last night, the preview cut is fascinating stuff. The performances of most of the non-GB cast were set in stone even then while the GBs themselves were more varied, like Venkman doing the "ESP" experiment at the start: the two kids are virtually identical to the theatrical cut while Venkman's reactions are almost entirely different takes. And even though there's no music at all my brain just filled it in

The dailies are great too, they're a bit like Peter's Knee in Family Guy: at first it's entertaining, then it goes on for longer and becomes boring, then it goes on so long it becomes entertaining again. There are various bits where a scene just skips over something with a hard edit but then you remember that these dailies were transferred from the actual camera negative and those cuts are likely where they lifted out the chosen takes to be slugged into the conformed negative. So cool.

GBII deleted scenes are less interesting IMO, there's not the same energy there. Same could be said of the movie itself of course but the amount of stuff that they reshot entirely shows just how much of a muddle it was. The original World of the Psychic skit isn't too bad (what was the song the accordion lady was playing? It's muted to avoid paying royalties I assume) but that first attempt at the scene where the guys try to get Venkman to go down into the subway with them is horribad, it's like a rehearsal or something. The acting is only marginally less stilted than the actual spoof acting they do in the TV advert seen in the 'rare unfinished teaser' in the trailers section. That's why stuff gets deleted/reshot in the first place, sure, GBII is not the first and will not the be the last. Still a lot of fun and still holds a lot of memories for this big kid who saw GBII in the cinema in 1989, but it just doesn't have that magic of the first film.

Wasn't the set like $100, which IMO was significantly overpriced.
I'm sure this OOP stuff is fake just to drive up demand for a second printing.

I agree about the tempting Peter into the subway scene, EXCEPT, Winston's line was great and made me laugh!

Hey. Wow, how the heck did you do that?

Mine also came today in a stupid plastic bag all the way to Europe, which is lame on Amazon's part.

I got the correct discs, slipcovers and all but one flap is torn and there's a little bit of damage at the top of the box (seems like it was slightly crushed, no wonder given the stupid packaging from Amazon).

I got in touch with their CS and all they could give me is a 15% credit, not even a refund. When I complained it wasn't satisfactory, they said it's the "standard procedure". I said I would think about it.

Is there any way to ask them for more and an actual refund, not credit? They were better at this before, it seems like they're being cheapskates nowadays!

I also hope they do a reprint soon. I don't really care about the packaging. I'd like to see some of those deleted scenes and new bonuses features, even if they are underwhelming. Sure wish they released these when they did the first Blu-Ray.

Yeah but that not the full picture of the deleted scenes from ghostbusters 2 we’re still missing a healthy chunk of deleted scenes from ghostbusters 2 ray possessed etc.

I managed to get two of these. I had an Amazon preorder but bought one at Best Buy just in case. The Best Buy one came in a box. Looks great. And I’m fortunate that the movies inside are the correct ones. The Amazon one of course came in a bag, but at least it was a bubble mailer bag. Looks 97% great I’d say. A couple little tears in the plastic and a minor scuff on the cardboard, but overall looks good. Of course, I have no idea if what's inside is accurate.

I'd have been upset if I had to pay $200+ because I didn't preorder. Instead of listing it on ebay, I'd like to share the joy of this set with a forum member for the price I paid plus shipping. Just PM me if you are interested, and I'll update this post when it's gone. It will go to the member who contacts me the quickest who's been a member the longest. And guess what...I'll ship it double-boxed. Take that, Amazon.

EDIT: I have found it a new home.

Well, I talked to another rep and this one gave me a 25% refund on my credit card. So 30 bucks! I took it because this seemed like a more appropriate offer.

At least, that paid for shipping and taxes.

There was a scene with Peter outside replacing the old sign with the new one that was done and pictures of it exist. On the GBFans site forum it was mentioned the whole Ray possessed scene was shot. There is also the second scene with Eugene Levy that is not in this set.

With GB2 I still want to see:

Possessed Ray
Liberty Island celebration
And subway frog ghost.

And literally everything else haha. But those 3 would be sweet.

No idea lol I guess it was just luck!

I went onto the chat thing and was just like “hey, this was shipped in just a plastic bag and it got a little bit of damage. I know there aren’t any available for an exchange so I’d like a refund” and at first the guy was like “ok we can give you a partial refund” and then a few minutes later he was like “as a one time exception since you’re a loyal customer, we can give you a full refund”

It seems that the Ultimate Collection gets released here in nordic countries on March 14th. Its 139.95 euros on Cdon.fi. I think I wait for the invidual releases that have Dolby Vision too.

Has Sony ever replaced packaging or do they only deal with disc replacements?

I highly doubt they would mess with packaging. Especially the trap box.
