The 2019 steelbook bonus disc is where it first appeared on an official release AFAIK, in this censored form, and it’s been ported over to this 2022 bonus disc as-is. But even the guys at Spook Central had no idea it’d been cut and it’s great to have it on there regardless, it just would’ve been even better had Sony (or perhaps the Reitmans themselves?) not decided to treat us like children. EEEEEEK look at the green light in the ghost trap box! Ahem.

Quick thought: was the Showest reel screened at that 35th anniversary GB Fanfest thingy? That might explain why it was edited down as that really was a ‘family’ event, and they just used the same edit for the discs. Shame no-one thought to put the full version on the ‘Ultimate’ set, but it’s great that someone managed to sneak the uncut version onto YouTube.

Just received my set from Amazon from the states here in the UK via stackry today.

Came in its original amazon packaging including a big air bubble thing. Everything looked fine from the outside, there was a bit of wear on the outer box under the sleeve and a small tear in the corner of slip spine for Ghostbusters 1.

Contacted amazon and they refunded me the full $50 dollars I paid (the other 50 was knocked off with promo credit I had on my account) and said I could keep it.

Happy with that lol

A couple little tears in the plastic and a minor scuff on the cardboard, but overall looks good. Of course, I have no idea if what's inside is accurate.

I'd have been upset if I had to pay $200+ because I didn't preorder. Instead of listing it on ebay, I'd like to share the joy of this set with a forum member for the price I paid plus shipping. Just PM me if you are interested, and I'll update this post when it's gone. It will go to the member who contacts me the quickest who's been a member the longest. And guess what...I'll ship it double-boxed. Take that, Amazon.

EDIT: I have found it a new home.
Just want to give a shout out to an awesome forum member who hooked me up with this set at cost! Set looks great! Fantastic to deal with. Nice to see some good will spread around these forums. Pretty cool looking trap box set with the green lights and all.

On the very slight chance my lost/stolen set from Best Buy ever somehow arrives (hasn't budged from local regional mail depot in two weeks now and they say they have no clue what happened), I will pass along the good will and also offer it up at cost to someone here who lost out.

Actually could be that they screened it at 35th anniversary fanfest and for no one thought to put the full uncensored version in the steelbook edition or in this Ultimate collection.

Hit me up if you get it and want to sell it for the same price you paid.

This week I've watched "GB Afterlife", "2001: A Space Odyssey," and the original Ghostbusters on disc. I can't decide if the remastered "old stuff" is more impressive than new content produced with 4K/HDR in mind. Either way, I'm getting some of my favorite films in the best quality I've ever seen.

Someone sold the box and plastic slip on the big auction site. The price is crossed out - I wonder what it was sold for. It's certainly tempting as an idea. The big is pretty large for the content.

Correct 100%. Nobody care's to talk about the GB 2 deleted scenes or the rare workprint of GB. Let's keep complaining about some cardboard packaging... I'm done with these forums. It was the same thing for The Explorers, 20 pgs of yapping about the cropping of video nothing about the 30 minutes of lost footage that the director found in his garage.
I took a few days off to rearrange a couple of things in my house only to find this gem of a post with my quote in it 😁

Yeah, I suggested having a separate packaging subforum. Didn't seem to take. People are *still* complaining about the packaging and not talking enough about the movies themselves.

This isn't the place for discussion of the movies.
This is for packaging, specs, and everything else.

This is the subforum for movie discussion:

This is the subforum for tv show discussion:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/forumdisplay.php?f=121

It's strange how the mods are super super strict on some things but don't care about some of the other forum rules

I think you misunderstand. The movie forum is about the movie. This forum should be about the transfer of the film onto home video.

In a sense you proved my point - if we have different subforms for the film and home video, why not add a packaging subforum to reduce the noise?

We also do have a sub-forum for packaging:

What we need is a place to talk about how horrendous amazon shipping and packing is!

There was a thread for the Ultimate Collection specifically, but mods locked it after the GB2016 discussion got out of hand, and they never unlocked it. I also doubt they would want two threads for the same release.

This thread is for the original 4k release which is a completely different disk and set than the new one.

Looks like it got folded into the one you posted. When I made it, I didn't know about the other one. And no reason was ever given as to why mine was closed
So now we have GB2 and GB:A discussion and spoilers in the GB1 thread!
Stupid decision, closing the other threads!
Every other release gets a new thread, be it a box or a single from a box.
It's not like the disks are even the same!
