I'd say yes, it doesn't "fix" anything (with either 1 or 2). In fact, the same old light cannon HDR grade is even a tad brighter now. 1 just has noticably better encoding and the DV meta data helps the display with both I guess is all (the latter is me speaking theoretically).

I believe it's a light-sensitive/motion sensor that turns on/off the Green light. If you close the box, the lights will soon shut off on their own :-)

Probably not worth taking the chance with all the duplicate discs and missing pieces.

My luck ran out in getting the limited edition set as Amazon canceled my pre-order today. I knew there was little chance of the item getting a restock. I hope Sony revisits this set possibly without the bells and whistles in the near future.

I really don't think that's the case here. They seem to be an actual retailer/seller, they've also been selling copies of Columbia Classics Vol 1 at essentially retail price which would be an odd thing for a scalper to do, and they seem to be getting more stock in also. I also don't see why someone who bought tons of copies like that would wait until now to list them, and at such a lower price than what the set is generally going for.

Received my copy of GB1 today from SPHE Support. Haven't heard a peep in two months and it just showed up out of the blue. But at least I finally have all the correct disks.

So, just to clear up the disc replacement posts - the 2.0 audio mix on the 4k discs for GB1 and GB2 are wrong, and if you want corrected versions of the discs you need to contact Sony because while they'll offer fixed discs, they're not advertising that they will do so? And then what should we say in our message to Sony? "My discs are faulty, and I need the corrected ones?"

No, the replacements are only for the duplicate disks at this point.
Nothing has been fixed yet.

Sony, just reissue this set in a slipbox a la The Karate Kid Collection 4K. You could even drop the book from the LE set. I'll still buy it in a heartbeat.
