I & II arrived today. I'm at the tail end of I now and the PQ is every bit as good as I read about.

Good morning!
I recently purchased an xbox one s and several 4K UHD's for my sharp 4K TV. After having to upgrade my receiver, everything was working. My first viewing last night was Ghostbusters (1984). The first 45 minutes looked great, then it studdered and froze for 10 minutes, then played fine for the last 30 minutes. The disc looks perfect, and was purchased like new on ebay. I'm going to try ghostbusters II (1989) tonight, but has anyone else had playback issues with ghosbusters?

When it did work, the detail and colors looked excellent. Even an improvement over the Blu-ray that was mastered in 4k.

Thanks for feedback. Love this movie!

So I watched and enjoyed the PQ of Independence Day (considering it's age) and am wondering how Ghostbusters would compare? Older, different film etc. but is it a similar experience to watching Independence Day?

Well the PQ is nowhere near Indepdence Day. However it is the best that Ghostbusters has ever looked and probably ever will. The problem isn't in the transfer, it's the film stock and cinematography. There isn't much pop to the colors because of the way it was shot/lit and it is very very grainy because of the grade of 35mm used. It was never a stylish/pretty movie to begin with.

Ok thanks for the reply. I don't mind grain, but doesn't sound like enough of an improvement on the Blu-ray, might pass.

If you have a gamers club membership with Best Buy, you can save 20% off several 4K titles, including Ghostbusters. Both Star Trek movies, Deadpool, Revenant, and several others are all 20% this week.

I'm curious to see it in HDR but otherwise I preferred the bluray as the grain was over the top for my tastes. Next time I watch it I might watch the 4k disc just to hear the Atmos track but damn the DSU is pretty nice as well.

15 is a new low price for such a great film in 4K. But damn I got the two together in the remasters on bluray for 10 bucks. I just can't justify it atm.

I heard the Dolby Atmos track for the movie at a 4K screening in 2014. Sounded amazing.

The difference in PQ on the BD and UHD is marginal ? You must be watching it on a tablet because the UHD is up there with the best and the HDR stands out.

The difference between the remastered bluray and the UHD is super small. Does it look better? Yes. But it isn't earth shattering.

I'm only watching in SDR admittedly but yeah, the difference is not exactly night and day. The UHD has got a 'tighter', grainier appearance for sure with a smidge more fine detail but other than that...meh.

Oops, I thought this was the 2016 version. I keep jumping back and forth in the threads.
