So, my 4k Sony bluray player does HDR, but my TV does not, so what happens if the disc is HDR graded? Will it look normal, or be messed up compared to a non-HDR disc?

Keep in mind that Blu-rays are graded for SDR and will look just fine on an SDR TV or even an HDR TV because an HDR TV can downgrade to a lesser dynamic range and color space. It just doesn't work in reverse. |

You'll notice the same props showing up in different films all the time. The Time Machine is another one where the uniforms from Forbidden Planet show up. Last edited by HD Goofnut; 04-18-2019 at 03:13 PM. |

So it seems this steelbook will be the thickness of a single-wide Blu-ray case? And it will include 4KBD as well as regular BD copies of each film? I ask because I’d like to replace my two standard 4KBDs of the first two movies with this steelbook so that it only takes up half the space on my shelf. Anyone know?

New deleted scenes on GB 1 and Ivan Reitman commentary on part 2! Seems like some GB 2 scenes are lost forever, Ray possesed etc. Oh well this is cool!

Yep, the back cover is as ugly as the front is awesome. Personally I think the Japanese have the right idea for the set itself: just sell it as a BD package and forget about the 4K discs, they're only in there so Sony can shift some inventory and hike the price because it's got 4K on it. (Sure, the JPN set will cost a lot of money anyway but even a fart in a bag will cost you beaucoup monies out there.)
If they'd re-rencoded the 4K discs for an optimal video pass and to include the OG audio - alas, that Sony's damascene conversion has come too late for these, ditto Warners and the Blade Runner Final Cut UHD - then it'd make their inclusion worthwhile. I am still buying it, but only so's I can strip out what I want and sell it on. ![]() |

The Japanese cover reminds me of the 2009 video game, it also has a nice internal artwork too, the back is bad though. Is the Japanese one even a steelbook? looks like a standard case to me.
I think Sony have held of the Ghostbusters 2 deleted scenes for probably a 40th anniversary set, maybe even packaging it with the new 3rd film. They sure love milking this one. I'm still gonna get it though, stick it with the rest. I heard it also comes with digital codes again. Still no sign of a UK release yet, but they are usually slow. |
