Similar to what Sony did with Labyrinth this year, Sony is re releasing this movie along with Ghostbusters II in a Deluxe UHD release which has Dolby Vision, new extras and the sequel will have a heap of deleted scenes. Will be released early 2022.

Yes, confirmed for early 2022, it's a brand new disc, not the previous 4K UHD release.

TOTALLY called it, lol. Are they including the 2016 film as well? I'd lurve to have the theatrical cut as well as a Dobly encode for that too.

Knowing that ghostbusters 2 is going to have a significantly bigger amount of deleted scenes on top of both 1 and 2 getting even better transfers made my day.

I cannot. It came from a sources within the industry. Nothing I have posted in terms of early scoops, 'Speed' 4K, 'Home Alone' 4K, 'Unbreakable', 'Pirates' 4K, every warner 4K catalog title this year and next year's 2022 slate can be linked, it comes from the people actually working at the studios on these releases.

So far I've only been wrong with is 'Heat' 4k because while the disc was being worked on, Disney has not renewed 20th Cent Studios' distribution deal with New Regency so now that release is in limbo.

From what I know, they're not doing 2016 - the film just hasn't got long term traction in terms of sales and on digital or physical but I will check just to be sure.

Can you at least give us a date for when we will get an official announcement for the new release for ghostbusters 1 and 2 4k?

I like to see the complete Fort scene. From GBFans the guard they talk to in the scenes is John Voldstad from Stripes. Also maybe the ghost frog thing scene in GB2 and the original library ghost if they filmed it before deciding it was too scary. Which was used at the end of Fright Night.
