I've never had an issue. Something this size will surely be packaged in a box.

Does the sixteen deleted scenes potentially mean the previously exclusive deleted scenes will be included in this set as well.

Really cool the early Preview Cut and TV cuts, although in SD but still neat.

Read the rest of the specs, it lists 7 additional deleted scenes which I'm assuming are the ones on the existing bonus disc.

But HOLY FOOKIN SHIT what a line up of extras. Wow. Wowowowowowow

I am so f*cking excited for this release. Holy shit.

Me reading those extras: “what a knockabout of pure fun that was!”

This be the cherry on top:

I can't imagine the TV cut of II really being different except censoring/replacing Venkman's "shit happens" when on the stand in court.

So cool that Sony are basically taking things that the indies are doing and making them part of their own line up of features e.g. OG audio, TV/preview cuts, information on the transfer, they're actually paying attention to what people want and for that alone they're the best major for UHD by quite some distance - they even dropped those terrible 'panel' menus as well! I have a lingering dislike for their hot hot hot HDR grading, sure, but when they adds in Dobly it mitigates even that.

An hour of raw dailies is fascinating. Not sure I've ever seen that on a release before.

Arrow's release of Mallrats has two hours of dailies, albeit taken from a low-grade source.

As for this release, count me in! It'll be fun to revisit the TV version of Ghostbusters as that was the one I grew up with, taped off of (I think) ABC.

It makes me wonder why other majors aren’t doing the same. It baffles me when I see classic/important/popular films released in subpar/incomplete ways when many of the things enthusiasts clamor for aren’t all that difficult to include. That is to say nothing regarding the absence of QC these days.

It’s frustrating because on the one hand I want to support the format and ensure it thrives, but on the other hand I’m trying to be more patient these days and await releases that do things the right way (like Sony with this release) as well as await reviews on this forum so as to not feel some regret over buying a disc with a bad encode or other issues.

It’s a glorious, wonderful time to be a movie buff and fan of physical media and simultaneously an incredibly frustrating time.

Quite simply, we're lucky to get what we get from the other majors as the heyday of physical media has long since gone and the home video departments have been cut to the bone, staffed with people who prolly don't even know what a disc is and who have no idea of what these movies mean to generations of people. But Sony, gawd bless 'em, have always been major proponents of disc and have always been looking for new ways to fleece us, which I don't mean in a bad way necessarily as it means they've still got people who are keeping an eye on what we 'enthusiasts' want. It's purely business, but that they're doing all these things still makes our bathing suit areas tingle nonetheless.

But I do also agree that it's both amazing and frustrating in equal measure, as the apparent death of QC running concurrently with the highest quality home video format yet seen is rather unfortunate timing.

I've got this Gift Set pre-ordered on Amazon, but...

Maybe I'm just getting old. I haven't seen Afterlife yet, so my interest is primary in the first two films which I know by heart. Most of the extras are of the 'one and done' variety, and I've got PDF versions of almost every published special out there, including the Making of Ghostbusters one by Don Shay. (So the tiny version included here just isn't really doing it for me.)

Even at DD $90 price, there's just so many other places to put my money than towards re-buying two beloved classic comedies for the 6th time. Or is is 7th? Jeez.

Call me underwhelmed. Or perhaps out of gas.

Lastly, before we dig into the full extra feature breakdown, it’s worth noting that Sony Home Entertainment has made a last-minute decision to include a Digital Download of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters (2016). As of this writing, there is no physical component.
