Just to be safe, I'd check the specs on the back of the box before taking the shrinkwrap off. But I'm 95 percent sure you'll have the mono.

Excuse me guys, I just have a soundbar with a woofer, but can you explain to me why do you want an old audio format for certain movies? I don't know this things

Yep. Same reason many of us will be buying Ghostbusters again for the ninth (or more) time, original audio.

But since Ghostbusters is a modern Stereo movie, isn't the Atmos mix far more accurate to the original than Bridge's Atmos and 5.1? Are there new sounds and have any of the positions been changed for the worse?

It’s definitely more faithful to the original than the modern sounding remix on something like Bridge. There are some slight differences though. One example was cited over on the HTF forum some time ago about why one user preferred the Ghostbusters stereo over the 5.1:
Quote:
Ghostbusters lacks so many directional sounds I remember on the CED. For instance, when Dana tosses Venkman out of her apartment when they first meet and Louis comes out the door when Dana's door opens you could hear the doors on the left and right (where they were on the screen) on the blu ray (and I believe on the DVD) they are in the center channel.
That’s probably not something I would have noticed, but I am all for the inclusion of original sound mixes and will support them when they’re released.

From LD to now CED for examples of audio differences, what's next dogs and cats living together? Mass hysteria!

Many people want to watch films in their initial incarnations, and that includes the original audio. Some people consider it unacceptable revisionism to create an Atmos mix and new surround channels where those things were never intended. And some of the most egregious consequences of creating these *NEW!* mixes occur when studios change or add foley effects, mistakenly edit out dialogue (and other poorly done edits), apply copious DNR (thus unintentionally removing certain frequencies), and just flat out make the film sound quite different from the original. I would say those are the main reasons people seek out original audio, but I’m sure there are others.

Personally, I find it rather silly to create an enveloping surround mix for films that were never produced with that in mind. The original audio will always be my preference, unless the original track is so badly damaged that it just doesn’t sound good.

There are those who want an Atmos mix for everything, but those people are awful lunatics and should be ignored.

Because the original theatrical mixes were done by experts in their field (Oscar winners in many cases). The remixes aren't.

Sorry if this has already been asked- I have the 4K 1 & 2 Steelbook. Does anyone know what other new features are included in this box set that weren't on the steelbook?

Thanks so much for any info!

I have the "stealth reissue." The mono track is not listed on the cover specs. I think the only way to tell is that there is a new 2019 copyright in microscopic fine print in the lower right corner. The original 4K release had a 2017 copyright.

Now, back to Ghostbusters!

The reissued Blus with the 2.0 tracks didn't seem to have this directionality, but then my audio 'set up' (TV speakers) might as well be two tin cans connected by a piece of string.

There should be two new entries in the database for GHOSTBUSTERS 1984 and II/2. Because the 4K/BD discs included aren't the released in 2016 ones and are entirely new. I'm sure this will be adjusted when it's released, of course.

So the new discs with DV won’t be available individually? You have to buy the $100 Ultimate Edition thing?

The individual title discs are likely to become available at a later date but that has not been announced. If you are interested any of the new extras on the bonus discs then the UE set is likely the only way to get them.
