Just to be clear for casual readers,

This is a dual format release, the 4K UHD bd will be movie only, the 2nd disk is the 1080p bd "Mastered in 4K" version with all the same special features as the currently available bd disks.

Also if "showing off to guests" is a motivating factor then I suppose it would just depend on the steelbook. Like for example if I had a friend over who loved Guardians of the Galaxy I am sure he would get a kick out of seeing my steelbook of it.

I appreciate a good steel book and box art as well. The Guardians of the Galaxy one is very nice!!!

It looks like Sony have corrected the UHD covers regarding the wrong Slimer on each film.

Oh good. Now I can sleep easier at night. (Sorry for the sarcasm Batman, it's nothing personal! Of all the things to be concerned about with these UHD discs I plain don't give a shit about the covers.)

Lol, I take it you are having issues with UHD films?

Well personally I'd like the studios to put a bit more effort into there releases, after all I'm paying for them, otherwise they might just start handing them out as discs with no cases like some sort of bootleg.

I even saw one site (WowHD) listing this film, but with the film information from the reboot!

I wonder about Batman (1989) UHD by Warner Bros. I can't wait to see an improve 4K theatrical original.

BDs regular was very poor picture. I'm very disappointed.

Not at all, most of the ones I've seen are excellent (recent exception noted in another thread I've just bumped ) it's just that I've bought Ghostbusters so many times I couldn't care less if the UHD came in a brown paper envelope. Like I said, nothing personal, I know you're on a mission to collect every version of the movies known to human kind and that's why you're interested in the art, I get that, but it's not my bag, baby.

This last for UHD with Dolby Atmos. Great collection movies.

I'll grab the movie GB1 and 2 UHD. I love artwork covers.

I'm actually looking forward to the new Atmos soundtrack and if the picture has got any better with HDR over the last MI4K release.

I would be happy to purchase one definitive release with all the extras, but with every release they usually get rid of extras and add new ones meaning as a fan I need to keep all the releases.

No doubt I'll buy it again in the next format to come (8K anyone)

Sure, I didn't say I wasn't interested in the disc itself! It will be very interesting to stack it up against the Mi4K version, I can't wait to find out what improvements the wider colour gamut will bring.

Ghostbusters II looks so outrageously fine on BD that's it's kinda hard to see where the UHD can improve, but if it does then it will be a reference disc for sure.

Not really sure what more you think the 4K will improve on Batman. It had that 80s Eastman 35mm stock. It was also shot in a lot of smoky environments in fairly low level light. It is not a sharp vibrant picture and I thought the BD looked pretty good for the film, actually.

On the other hand, Aliens was also shot on that stock and the BD looks fantastic. So, you never know what future picture tinkering could do.

Actually it's a textbook case for HDR with the potential of deep, deep detailed blacks.

That movie though was processed by Lowry so while it looks great it's not quite representative of the condition of the film elements.

Agreed PT, it's more the wider gamut and dynamic range that will probably bring the greater benefits to GB1. Those 65mm VFX shots should look mighty fine in 4K res though.

Am really looking forward to this if for no other reason than that it's one of my all time favorite movies.

I own the mi4k bd and am eager to see how it will stack up against the uhd.
