Derpdiscount are preparing to charge my card anyway, eeeeeeeeek!

And I gotta say, for £76 this isn’t something that I’d consider to be extortionate because I don’t just want the redone discs of the first two films. I need to buy afterlife on UHD which would be £25 to get it on release day anyway so I’m paying £51 for the first two movies in redone Dobly splendour plus the reprint of the long-OOP making of book plus the wealth of new extras (Sony taking their cue from the indies once again).

I wouldn’t call that a billy bargain for two movies + tat but it’s not over the top either IMO (though I couldn’t give a toss about what costs what on streaming), it’s what I’d gladly pay for such a package of a favourite movie. The daft ghost trap packaging itself is the last thing I’m getting this set for, it’s all about the chewy goodness inside.

Edit: though to be fair, if I couldn’t order the US version and was stuck with the UK version at a minimum £120 if ordered early enough, now it’s £150 everywhere, then I might be slightly less inclined to be so sanguine about it.

These kinds of limited edition doohickeys are what’s keeping high end disc alive with regard to the studios, and the indies ain’t shy about using such inducements either, albeit with less battery powered frippery.
Yeah it’s killing me i miss it but it was my first time I got covid and i had real rough time of it. Hoping they get more in stock because I got the money set aside

Just to clarify my position. Heard about 1 & 2 getting Dolby Vision and planned to buy. Apparently that ended up turning into this monstrosity with all 3 movies instead. Saw the $149 price and decided it was grossly overpriced. Saw it drop to $99 and thought it was still overpriced so didn't order.

The point is, even if a person was/is willing to cave and pay the ridiculous $99 for this when they didn't want the extras (again, not judging you if you want the extras) they won't be able to find it because they were long gone with pre-orders and scalpers.

So how exactly is that keeping the high end disc market alive? Unless their goal is to sell less discs?

There's ZERO evidence that these discs are OOP or limited edition. If I'm wrong, please post that information. We also don't know what will happen in the future with regards to separate releases.

Everyone needs to calm down and take a breath. It ain't that serious.

Best Buy to me: "Your package has shipped out, and UPS expects it to be delivered on Saturday, 01/29/2022."

Right now, it's in Louisville, KY. And we're expecting +12" of snow on Saturday.

Dam, 5 days of being in transit. Hopefully the box doesn't arrive too crushed, cuz that's why I bought two copies to double my chances of getting a good set.

Am I wrong for hoping that a collectors set will be nicely made and actually limited for once

No you’re not wrong, Sony wasn’t kidding with this being a limited edition since it’s impossible to find now. Of what stock amazon had, it sold out within a week or so. I’m glad I got mine in while I could

I think it will definitely not arrive today and possibly not arrive tomorrow. The digital copies I don't have will be sold to the lowest bidder.

Could you let me know when you won’t be selling them as I might not be interested in buying them!

Does £76 include 20% VAT and shipping? HOW did you get it for this?!

I'm one of those mugs that has ordered the UK set at £150 (**** knows why I'd even consider spending THAT much on 3 films but I NEED the redone versions! Sony had better not **** the UK over with lesser blu-rays that miss out content though or I'll have an aneurysm).

They are going to release a vanilla blu-ray 3 pack but force you to get the premium package if you want 4K Dolby Vision. A premium package that I guarantee you will be nowhere to be found come next week.

It's on itunes right now for $29.99 for all 3 in Dolby Vision or you can buy Afterlife on DISC for the same price.

This reeks.
Except that it's not, it's sold out which means people are buying discs.

That includes everything. Sony's US boxsets are often priced much lower compared to the UK equivalents (got the US Vol2 Columbia Collection on release for like £92 all in) and deepdiscount also had a 10% voucher, it would still have been verr cheaper without that but every little helps.

Yep, only on planet Blu-ray.com do discs being sold out mean that disc is dying. But Sony usually find a few more sets down the back of the sofa with these LEs at some point so it's worth people watching out for it, and while I get the complaint about there not being a standalone non-tat release we don't know what the future prospects are for these redone GB discs. But hey, it's Ghostbusters, I think yet another re-release is inevitable.

Just received shipping confirmation from Deep Discount for the copy I pre-ordered on Christmas Day

£76 all in vs the £150 most places want for the UK release, easy choice.

got my "your order will be shipping soon" email from best buy. So mine appears to be a day behind some of the people on this forum. I've never gotten a pre order early so I'm guessing I'll get it Tuesday..

For what it's worth, deepdiscount shipped mine as well. The one I ordererd when it wasn't available to order anymore and I only could still do so, because I still had it in my account basket.

So if anyone, who ordered before me, gets a cancellation: blame me.

Now that it shipped, here's also waiting for the inevitable flimsy pics.
