I had ZERO interest in this until I heard a rumour that Gene Hackman has been attached. I'm sure nothing of the sort will pan out, but if true then I would welcome a chance to see him again (in this or anything else)

Right feel like they will be the ones to decide. We all want and wish Tony could do it. Think TC will do his best to make this a good movie and probably dedicate it to Tony. Don't think they will be able to make a sequel as good as Top Gun but think it will be a good film to see none the less.

Hackman is enjoying retirement and writing books. Although I agree it would be awesome to see him in a much more 'better' last film then Welcome to Mooseport.

This seems like it would be the perfect movie for Michael Bay since his visual style/editing of his movies has aped Tony Scott since day 1.

But considering Safe House was probably the most Tony Scott movie that Tony Scott never made, they should probably give Daniel Espinosa a call.

I would be OK with that, if they can make me like Washington without Scott they have something.

It would be nice to see Ridley step in for his late brother. Plus he worked with Cruise on 1985's Legend. Although more then likely Christopher McQaurrie will get the gig.

I'm surprised Cruise hasn't tried to get Doug Liman on board.

At least Tom Cruise is involved so maybe they won't end up going with the typical Hollywood 2016 practice bringing in director who has only directed one low budget film that was moderately successful so they can be nothing more than a studio/producer/Star's puppet. People can say what they want about Cruise, but preaty much his whole career he's been known for almost always working with some of the best directors.
