Oh I’m well aware (grew up near two bases remember?). What I left out is how much therapy this guy admitted to going to and how he contemplated about blowing his brains out on a weekly basis. The pathology goes downhill from there. The poor guy was hanging on by a thread and was truly disturbed.

i havent seen the movie (hard rental) but the problem with the clip, from what i can gather is that, it's not even done that well. Definitely feels lifeless. IE TACKED ON as another poster has mentioned for sheer fandom. Poor attempt at recreating a feeling of comradery? because all i see is a cringy scene being played out.

I won't be caring about what happens to the characters because they are annoying the hell out of me in this moment.
I dunno, maybe you're easily impressed (most likely)? and anyone else who isnt on the same page is wrong/gets attacked. Must be fun leading such an ignorant life.

it also doesn't help that they are probably using studio audio for the clip and not the actual audio that plays in the movie

Holy crap, that's some unresolved anger you've got there.

You're not interested in the movie, and are not particularly impressed by what you've seen so far.

You could put it as simple as that, without descending into such madness.

Thought it was a entertaining and well-made flick. For some reason, I was expecting the Miles Teller character to be more central to the narrative from the start. And compared to some of the braggadocio in the original film, this one occasionally seems a bit bland.

But can't deny Cruise's star power and the technical achievements involved.

I saw this last night and I am absolutely speechless. I don't know what to say, other than my heart raced damn near the entire film. I was clenching the damn armrests! What a film. What a treat.

Don't know if I'd call it the best sequel of all time, but it sure is among the great sequels.

It's one of those sequels that's a glorified remake in terms of its basic story beats (being a mashup of Top Gun and the final reel of Star Wars) but like T2 or Fury Road it carries it off with such panache and such self-belief and no small amount of technical know-how that it still feels fresh and exciting. I actually forgot about Mav's daddy issues in the first film and he even says he got barred from the academy because of it (watched the first one again last night) so it's all verr similar with Rooster.

The problem with considering TG2 a good or even serviceable sequel is how thoroughly it trashes the positive message from the first movie. I know a lot of fans refuse to acknowledge it, but it is a fact nonetheless. The first film is just as much about Mav laying several ghosts to rest as it is about telling him to grow up. One could be said to lead to the other, true, and the sequel holds to that except it inverts it with Rooster as instead of being a reckless nut he's conservative to a fault because of what happened with his father - which wasn't actually Mav's fault, let's not forget - but he needs to let him go and trust his instincts to become the flyer that he's destined to be. It's a nice play on the first film and doesn't undermine it at all for me, as instinct vs ability doesn't have to be a binary situation.

I'm not sure why you're bothering with that one. That whole "Top Gun Maverick isn't good" is only an act or trying to convince oneself because it's a successful non-MCU film.

Just came back from my second viewing. Took the kids this time. I don't think I've ever seen them so invested in a new film. Probably the first truly good film they've got to see in the cinema, thanks to Disney flooding the market with their agenda fuelled generic CGI crap.

For me, that would be Aliens and T2. However, Maverick was bloody good! Way better than I was expecting.

Like I said before, Maverick is a student in the first film and is a veteran in the 2nd. They had to let him take control because no other pilot stood a better chance at succeeding in the mission, but otherwise he was done with the Navy because of his recklessness. I'm sure you would've dug holes even if the movie had been a complete rehash.
