That bracket was for the opening weekend. Also, the brackets are always based on the BO forecast from Box-office Mojo. Besides, the 3-day OW was about $126m - so it didn't even come in at the high end of the OW forecast

Worldwide I was giving Maverick a max. of $1.36 billion. It is now @ $1.378 billion.
I was off by roughly $100 million ($1.45 ... 1.46) if things continue that trend.

I knew you would say that. Hollywood box office doesn't go by the standards; the week starts on Friday and ends on Thursday, and the summer ends right just around now ... mid-August (August 18?).

Welcome to Fall, where Maverick could gain back spot #1 @ the box office.
It's the only good movie worth re-seeing; there's nothing else till November 11 ...

I predict that TG:M will have made 10 billion by 2050, and 100 billion by 2250. By 3000, TG:M is the first movie to make 1 trillion. Etc.

By the way you were right; Bullet Train was the last big movie of the Summer.
Now Maverick can fly free forever in the empty and peachy bright skies.
That should bring it back to spot #1 @ the box office till October 21, ...Black spandex Adam guy.

C'mon now; that's not bad for a 2-star flick.

* The only real hope this year is with The Way of the Water (Avatar 2) in 3D IMAX...December 16. My gut feeling tells me that it won't cut it like high expectations. There are several reasons for that I think. Among them; this winter we can be rerouted for a rude awakening ... And, it's another flick where everyone is wearing a spandex suit...blue.

Depending on how Maverick performs the Paramount Pictures Top Gun executives along with Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) are working on the best interests of their shareholders. It's very normal; I would do the exact very same.

Who knows what can happen next week, next month, ... perhaps the date will end up to be later in December, or sooner in October? There's no rush; it still a bonanza flick available in theaters where the adrenaline is much higher than @ home.
When it comes on Blu (2K & 4K) we'll be ready to depart or cash. For now it's a good idea to save and budget our financial habits ... food, gaz, mortgage, rent, inflation and all that jazz.
Maverick is going nowhere but up.
