Not just that but hes just.... who even cares anymore? Weirdo scientologist goofball. His sell-by date has passed so long ago that hes basically rotten cheese right now. He was decent in a fw flicks but I never thought he was the second coming or anything. Good looking dude, mediocre acting talent at best.

Not quite sure about the mediocre acting. Guy should have won best actor for Born on the Fourth of July.

Agreed. Just rewatched that a few nights ago. He plays it safe nowadays, but back when he stretched himself working with top notch directors and challenging material he delivered the goods..often.

The CGI in this sequel will almost certainly sink me into the deepest cinematic depression I've experienced since the travesty of Rocky V.

They'll probably do a techno-industrial rock remix of "Highway To The Danger Zone."

Goose's son will probably be a character.

Tom Cruise will probably throw up all over himself...metaphorically speaking.

Everyone they bring back from the original will look like Botox-addicted, geriatric freaks.

They'll try to recreate the volleyball scene, only it will be a game of Frisbee golf instead.

The dialogue will be so unbearably corny that I'll have to bring a barf bang with me to the theater.

God help me, I will do whatever I have to to prevent this abomination from being recorded on the manure-stained toilet paper of digital video.

Even if it costs me my life.

...at least I'll know that I died for something that mattered.

[Show spoiler]

true, and he was very good/great in "MAGNOLIA", & some other roles where I thought he did a good job were: RAIN MAN, A FEW GOOD MEN, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (1st), MINORITY REPORT, COLLATERAL, TROPIC THUNDER (TC does Comedy!!, who knew!), OBLIVION, EDGE OF TOMORROW

They're gonna redo the volleyball scene with a CG volleyball and part of me will die inside.

Tom Cruise is mad as a box of frogs but remains one of the last genuine movie stars. As for being too old, no. I would take a 60 year old cruise doing real stunts over a 25 year old star in front of green screen anytime.

I'd rather this be called Top Gun 2, but I'm looking forward to it. I hope they have a badass 80s soundtrack. Retro soundtracks worked for Guardians of the Galaxy, and it would feel odd for Top Gun Maverick to have modern tracks.

I prefer Tom Cruise in the latest outings compared to the 80's where he wore shirt/ties/uniforms and never looked like a different person from movie to movie.

A good actor can diversify and he's doing that quite well recently.

He did say in an interview they will be keeping the same style and tone of the original, including the same kind of score by Harold Faltermeyer, so I would hope that includes the same type of songs, too.

Looking forward to seeing what they've come up with for this. The title does seem a little . . . off, I admit. I would have preferred just a simple Top Gun 2 but oh well.

I dunno what TC doesn't like about "2," apparently he was the one against the idea of giving it a number in the title.

Yeah, in the interview I watched earlier he said he didn't want a number. I thought he might explain his reasoning but he just said something like "You don't want a number in the title."
