Okay, so it's NOT 1.85:1, it's 2.35:1 (as it should be). The real question - IS IT REGION A B C or is it locked to Europe??? Can someone verify this? I want to import this if at all possible.

My God, why in the world is this release taking so long to come out? I swear, it's always the titles I really want. lol January. ::sigh:: Well, I'll certainly feel a lot better when we get the official announcement from Fox on this instead of "this is a rumored flagship title for PIP in January".

Actually - for anyone that might be thinking it - I would not care if the movie was in full or barred. I actually want it barred.

Think it looks lots better that way.

Hmmm strange, it says 1.85:1 on the back of the disc but not full screen....

You really think PIP will make the American release better the Uk? I doubt it, this is a fantastic release as is thank you very much.

It has more content, and the PiP content is accessible to everyone through the extras menu. That was confirmed to me this morning

I don't doubt what your saying for one moment, my point was this an excellent Uk Blu Ray and everyone who has a region B player should buy it, your post makes it sound as if it is inferior which its not.

Not sure about anyone else here, but PIP is not on my list of items that I will be using a lot. It might be cool a few times or on movies I would not mind seeing it on (Aliens, Die Hard).

However, just to have it or not will not kill me. I am a movie person. I want to watch a movie. If there are extras and I am bored or if the movie was really really good - I will watch some of the extras - like the gag/blooper reel. That is the main extras I watch.

Do you people take courses in how to formulate confusing sentences? What do you mean "it says 1.85:1 on the back, not full-screen"? The term "full-screen" should never be mentioned when it comes to Blu-ray Disc unless we're talking about a classic that was composed for 1.37:1 framing (unless we're all just so used to our 16:9 sets that 1.85:1 has now become full-screen which, at the very least, is an odd way to put things). 1.85:1 is widescreen. 2.35:1 is widescreen. 16:9 (or 1.78:1) is widescreen. What does full-screen have to do with any of this? Why say "barred" or "full" when you can say "is this 2.35:1 or 1.85:1?" and everyone will know what you're saying? Sorry, I just don't see the use in mixing up terminology. It just leads to confusion. I'm assuming this release is 2.35:1 (or "barred", if you must). That's how it was shot, that's how it is on regular DVD, and there's no reason it should be 1.85:1 (or "full", if you must) on BD.

ok buddy here it is:

The box says - presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio (to me that means no black bars CORECT ME IF IM WRONG!)

But when you play the movie it seems to be 2.35:1 (it has black bars!)

Now i have just noticed that in another section on the box it says letterbox version 16:9 so this seems to solve why it is different to what is expected.

Now some people on these forums don't know much about aspect ratios and it is sometimes easier to say full screen or the film has "black bars" no need to spit the dummy

I'm saying to the region A people that it's not like we're waiting another 4 months for nothing. Buy! Enjoy! I'm sure the actual video will be identical

The movie will be the same but I for one would like to understand why Boyle did what he did with the film. The PiP Commentary might help understand the film better. As it is now, it's a great film especially if you can watch it on the biggest screen you can have.

This is why i like commentary's but not PIP, there is a fantastic commentary by boyle on the UK version and if you had PIP it would distract you from what he is explaining about the movie, you can only what one thing at a time!

watched this last night. The audio even though DTS core is amazing

. the effects are very weighty and seem placed around the room with high accuracy.

The video is also first rate. some occasional softness, but in this movie there is some intentional softness, detail is high and the shots of the Sun etc absolutly inspire.

really enjoyed this release.
