I just bought a 65-in A80J two months ago… you’re telling me manufacturers are still making improvements in display tech? Shocking.

I’m sure in a couple of years I’ll move my A80J to a secondary location in the house and upgrade my living room set again.

I'm very glad that Vincent has made the point about the near-black chroma overshoot not being fixed in hardware yet. I fear this has been swept under the carpet and forgotten about.

We 2018 C8 owners discovered it, and Vincent was instrumental in pushing LG to fixing us up with the firmware work-around, which was dithering and not using the White sub-pixel near black. A work-around is the most that could be done for our panels.

We accepted that it was too late for the 2019 panels to have a hardware fix.

But we thought that at least the 2020 panels would have a real hardware fix - no! And again, in 2021! Four years of panels using a dithering work-around!!

Near black has been iffy for OLED since the start. Will it be until the end?

I doubt I will ever buy a large TV again. I have more interest in something like that new ultra short throw three laser "laser TV" projector that is DV compatible.

Yes but to a lesser extent in Panasonic 2020 OLEDs.

Already there is enough confusion about HDMI 2.1 and now this is like adding more salt on the wound.

Meh, I still prefer to watch the majority of the Marvel films in scope. Infinity War and Endgame are the only ones I wished were expanded on disc.

I feel dumber having watched that. Typical screen filling FUD - oh look, he points out that Cap and Thor are in Tony's message scene like everyone else has, and like everyone else he doesn't show how they're in the frame for a couple of seconds at most because the camera is moving down - plus conspiracy theories about Disnee always putting their UHDs on sale because D+ and IMAX Enhanced is the bigger draw....wut? Every ****ing studio puts their UHD stuff into multibuy offers sooner or later. When you're making the same conclusion as Films at Home that a low price is some kind of admission of lower quality then you've jumped the shark, big time. It's the most laziest form of clickbait journalism.

So....

Which version is supposed to be "the directors creative intent". Or has Disney thrown this out of the window along with bum cracks now?
