Me I think the film was overly underappreciated. Time will make justice to it.
This film is a great film, it's the movie critics who aren't great movie critics, in general.

And to offer 4K and 3D in the same package for $15-20 on sale is great.
Technically it's a tour-de-force, unique. ...Emotionally too.

the 60fps really is enticing, but i'm a firm believer that films have their strengths and such. i think i will have to pick it up soon.

I have it. The frame rate is truly nauseating and incredibly distracting.

There’s a learning curve for sure, but I was completely sold on the framerate after about 20 minutes. I think what Ang Lee does with it is amazing. A real shame no other directors have been bold enough to step up and use it since.

We are stuck inside a frame rate cell. Outside is the free world. It's a new reality that we cannot adapt to because we are so stuck for so many years; it's like a Marvel comic book film taking over our soul with CGI effects a la Mickey mouse. Higher frame rates mean higher emotional level. We simply cannot accept better than what we're used to. It looks inferior because it looks plastic soap, it looks too polished, too perfect. We are used to inferior older film technologies from the Charlie Chaplin era, cinema muet in black & white.

Our displays are made for Disney mouse movies with Dolby Vision.

Fifty years from now they are going to laugh @ us.

You don't need to wait 50 years.

It's not easy to disconnect from that soap effect. It takes practice and walking through the screen as if it was a door to reality.
It's a very good thing that the 3D version is also included.

Soaps are an endangered species these days, I wouldn't be surprised if there's quite a few people out there who've never seen one.

And for all the kvetching about 60fps, the movie on disc is only half of the framerate it was shot at - 120fps! In 3D at that!
The 4K is literally half the movie.

I'm totally mesmerized by how this film looks. The production value, direction, lighting, performance and look of people is still so high end inside the "too real" framerate shell. Very unique and very cool imo.

Only took so long to buy it because I wasn't sure if I would like the movie itself... verdict's still out on that since I'm still watching it, but really wanted to remark on the look.

I really wish I could have seen Hobbit at 48 fps, just to have had the experience.

Agreed on all three counts. Love the look of the UHD, not quite sure on the film itself, wish I'd seen the Hobbitses in HFR.

HDR or HFR? The latter was quite good but I only saw the third one that way.

Ah yes, I meant HFR. I'm so used to typing HDR that my brain just overrode the 'F'
