That's quite the difference in our movie collections.

Where would be the best place on the forum to ask for advice about a bad Target experience? A Target safety & health guy followed me around the entire store like a criminal, due to me spending a lot of time picking the right slipcover for a movie (I assume). I didn't steal anything or do anything illegal, but I count on this Target as somewhere I need to go to so can't have someone treating me that way or stalking me every time I go in.

I'm a little OCD and weird, I'm sure, but when I confronted him about it he was a nasty sob and said he could follow me if he liked and wanted me to know he was watching, but had no answer when I wanted to clarify what I had done to cause alarm. This does not seem normal, don't really know what to do to resolve it. I will no doubt continue being weird so I cannot have this guy making me uncomfortable that way or feel bullied into not coming. He followed me all the way through the store and stared at me as I left, yet could not explain what my crime was. This does not seem right or legal.

start following him. and, if asked, tell him you can follow him if you like and let him know you're watching HIM. **** him AND his "special" job title.

you wanna follow me just because you can? you better know that i might start following you, too. i don't care if that's your job or what your job title is. if i've done nothing wrong, you have no reason to follow me.

hell, i might even call 911 and tell them someone is stalking me while i'm shopping. sure he could probably talk his way out of it since he's the "safety" whatever. but if he has no reason to follow you, then he needs to learn that stupid shit has consequences. also, with the cops being called, it might be cause for target management to (maybe) make an official report or something. don't know if any good would come out of it, but you never know.

i work in retail and can usually spot someone who is attempting to steal. they have a certain look/demeanor about them; and we've stopped plenty of them. BUT...there are those, like yourself, and me, who might take a little extra time looking at the same items over and over trying to get the best version. and, unfortunately, it makes some people look suspicious. and, again unfortunately, that means some people with a special job title take it WAY too seriously and, to them, every one is a criminal until proven otherwise.

there have been a couple times i've been followed around a store, like that. and after i noticed it, i started messing with them. it's fun for me and it pisses them off. they have no authority other than to ask you to leave. granted if you don't, after they ask, they can have you arrested for trespassing. but they have no real authority other than that. they're given a position with what they think is a certain amount of power, but in reality they're just a loser who has nothing better to do than harass a paying customer.

I wish I knew what's right for me and speak up. I've been almost a year here and not sure if I can last any mentally or physically. I need the money but I don't need the stress.

YES! That was it. I didn't even know such a thing existed. The colors were a bit darker and more vivid, but that was it. Wow, I'm floored. Not freaked at all, just confused.

Do you find that if a crime has been committed they have on tape, it's usually normal protocol to be upfront with the perpetrator rather than this passive aggressive evasiveness to let me know I'm being watched? Only asking since you said you had that issue yourself, don't know if anyone else has either.

The fact that he wouldn't say what he thought I did and was hostile with his remarks about 'why, you feeling guilty? We have 100s of cameras in this store, if I didn't want you to know you're being watched you wouldn't!' makes the purpose clear as mud.

Any experts on Asian music here? I saw a video earlier today, a Korean girl was making a sandwich. I know, weird, don’t judge me. Anyway she had the radio playing in the background and it was a catchy tune. It went "something something something oh oh oh oh, something something something oh oh oh oh"

The "something" sounded like the same word/phrase repeated, followed by "oh oh oh oh"

Does anyone know the song?

well, the laws are different in different states. i know here, in alabama, if you put something in your pocket or in conceal it in a piece of clothing or a bag, etc., it's actually considered shoplifting. even though you didn't take the item and leave the store, it's still considered shoplifting. but in other states, you actually have to leave (or attempt to leave) the store with the item.

i've been approached about items i had on me that i couldn't hold in my hand (i didn't get a cart from the front and wound up with more items than i could carry). i was talking towards the front to actually go get a cart and was going to lay all the items down at an empty register so i could get a cart and then put the items in it. i had one item sticking out of my back pocket (which i'm assuming is the whole reason for his encounter), but i got it and laid it on the counter with all the other items. after i loaded them into the cart, i noticed someone following me through the store. they were on every aisle i went onto...but keeping a distance. when i finally got to the register to pay, they came up and asked if i had anything else in my pockets. i told them, "no, that one item was there simply because i couldn't physically hold it and that's when i went to get the cart." he looked pretty pissed that he didn't actually catch me doing anything or actively trying to steal something. even though technically he could've gotten me for shoplifting for the item i had in my back pocket. but he continued to stand there while i checked out and followed me as i left the store.

the one time i messed with a guy was when i noticed him following me. i'd been in the store for a quite a while (just one of those days where you have nothing better to do so you go "shopping" by just walking around a store with a cart with 1 single item in it for about an hour, lol). after i noticed him, i made a detour and went to the restroom. he couldn't follow me in there (single-person restroom), so he had to wait outside. i made sure to come out with my shirt un-tucked. well, that must've set off all kinds of alarms in his head. he was on me the rest of the time i was in there. and all i did was just walk up and down every single aisle...some of them 2 or 3 times...slowly. i'd pick stuff up, look around, look him dead in the face, then put the item back on the shelf. then i'd turn towards him and start walking quickly. he'd dart around the end of the aisle and go to another one. i'd hit the corner, look down to see him, made sure he saw me, then i'd turn and go the opposite way down a different aisle. i did this for a while and then just left. now i don't know how many lp (loss prevention) guys they had in that store at that time, but i made sure to waste the time of that one. if he was the only one, it'd have been the perfect time for anyone else to steal something as his attention was squarely on me.

That's what it is here in California: they can conceal the item, but Loss Prevention/Management can't approach until the person passes the last point of sale and exits the building. I used to work Loss Prevention back in 2010/2011 when it was actually a good job.

go buy a cheap, wireless one. that way, you'll have a mouse with you now...plus you'll have a backup if anything happens to the other one.

My main mouse is a cheap wireless one already Actually I quite like the mouse I have. I got it from Best Buy awhile back because the right-click button on my old mouse would only work intermittently. I'm managing...somehow. I can tough this out. I could only make it through 20 minutes of The Tree Of Life but this I can handle

Thinking about lending someone about $55 for a couple weeks...
Oh yeah, and I see that The Last Full Measure is $12.99 right now so I'm thinking I may go ahead and get it. Sounds very much like a movie I would appreciate. I have never read the book but I believe the title is actually from a Civil War novel. The Last Full Measure...I love that title

Oddly got notice tonight that I got another $1100 in aid for this summer, most likely NMSU scrambling to keep me from dropping my classes. However, I don't have another $3000+ for tuition and books so unless more is coming by Monday, I will be dropping my classes. I don't want to do it but that's where we are.
